My family came from Long Tu Canton to Costa Rica at the end of the 19th century and my fatther returned to study in Guanzhou in 1917. This 12 inch vase has been in my family since I can remember and I regretfully broke it in the mid 60s, my punishment, thankfully, was to put it back together. Just curious to know if it is real and worth repairing. I am trying to sell a Budai with the same background and know for certain that it has been in my family before 1950 but experts believe it is new. I am quite sure that there is no market for chinese antiques in Costa Rica so the probability of copies or exports from China before 1950 are rare, I would thank opinions on this.
Hi Dennis, welcome to the forum. In my opinion your vase is late 1940s/early 1950s. A professional repair would be nice if you plan to keep it as a family heirloom. Don’t have it repaired if you plan to sell, it doesn’t add much to the value. By selling as it is you might earn perhaps 100-200$ but I’m no expert for market prices. In the world of Chinese porcelain everything after 1945 is usually described as modern, so don’t worry about your Buddha. You can sell it as vintage.

Firstly welcome to this great forum!
Your vase is very typical of the 1950's. The top rim and base are very typically found in both late Republic period and early PROC. Of note is the off center mark which makes me think later rather than earlier. In addition to the slightly rounded seal mark.
These types of vase are plentiful. In my opinion a full restoration would not be worth it. Unless it has sentimental value.
Dating republican period to early PROC is difficult for most. Unless you specifically collect or have interest in that period.

@shinigami Thank you for taking the time to answer. Well it is a family heirloom and has survived some strong earthquakes so I will keep it where it is.
@imperialfinegems Well thank you for your prompt reply. I am amazed at how useful advise you provide anyway I will publish another post with the buddai. And I apologize for the picture quality but I am pretty new to the internet and learning. I will make sure that the reign marks are better represented in the future.
As I am quite new in these and don't know much about dating I included a new picture of the bottom of the vase in my new posting, since I now realize the importance of a good picture, is that orange peel that you can see? When did the chinese stopped using cobalt blue, I believe it was after the Taiping rebellion when my family emigrated from China. Thank you once again.
