"Hello to all members on the forum."At my local auction in a mixed lot of oriental items these 2 pieces caught my attention,any info would be appreciated. The small blue/white Pill type box is approx 2"inch diameter and the Dragon dish is approx 5"inch in diameter "many thanks " Brian.
I think I would stay away from these,
the first , a seal paste box, looks to be a modern copy , fairly crudely decorated, with a strange blue tone.
The second , a water pot or small brush washer , is quite unusual in its colour palette , but also I think modern. If you look carefully at the dragon , it has a very stubby tail and the face and overall shape are not convincing. The footrim looks new . That grey colour on the unglazed part is not what you want to see.

If you like them, by all means bid on them, but in the wider scheme of things, these pieces have no great consequence. They are relatively modern and have little finesse.

to me it's look like there a date marke painted in side the paste bowl
of 27 ad 11year to it make it 37 or the one mark could be a 9 it hard to tell for
the angle of the picture of the mark. I don't know if it done at that time period
or not it possible. John

"Thanks for the post Tam," In the end i did not bid on this lot, they were mixed in with various Japanese items of low value ie : chop sticks,bone back scratcher's, rice spoon,carved paper knife, 4 small damaged cloisonne bowls & a few other bits etc, but it still made around $300 with commission!? I appreciate your advice given on these 2 items. Keep up the good work...Brian.
