Just wondering your opinions on this beaker vase. It is 17" tall, and seems nicely painted, I am just concerned the quality is just not the same as I bought from Xin a little bit ago. There is a crack in the foot and it runs up the side a bit. There is still some grime on the foot (which does look okay) which I just briefly rinsed but of course you can still see it in the voids and just overall.
So I am not convinced, but I just wondered what everyone.

I would not buy this one.

That is what I figured, my friend bought it from the same place I got the screen, and the export pieces, Luckily I think he only paid $70, I did not know he was bidding, but I had seen it and it didn't quite look right.
I am currently talking to two conservators about the best plan of action with the one from Xin, Within the next month I will figure it out, but most likely I will. My customer who was interested backed out, but its okay since I think its magnificent, so if it sits here a while I will be very happy indeed.

I would love to see it once it's been fully restored etc.
I was seriously thinking about buying this from Xin. But I wasn't sure how much it would cost to retire or back.

I will certainly post it when its done. I suspect it will be quite costly to get it done right.

I suspect your correct. It will be expensive. But worth it if it's done professionally. Also ask about the resin that cannot be detected by UV light.
I am also having a couple of pieces done. Probably later in the year as we are in and out of lockdowns here.
I don't think it's of the period. The shape and rendering of the cobalt are just not right.

@jbeer2121 Is it my bad eyeglasses, or do your photos kind of have a soft halo effect going on? I think the responses on your vase are probably correct, that it is a copy, but it sure would be best to post some sharp photos before throwing the baby out with the bathwater.
On pieces like this.... take it outside and set it in bright sun and take some close up from about 8 inches away...even if there are some areas of shadow or reflection...no problem.
The reason for doing this is that the cobalt blue in these earlier wares seem to reflect light quite differently than the copies (in theory), and seeing the color of the undecorated porcelain and the nature of the clear slip is also helpful.

Sorry, the pictures were shot in my light box, the sun hasn't been out for a few days... I don't think it is right, I feel I must state that flat out. My friend is dropping it of tomorrow, And hopefully I can shoot photos out side. The cobalt lacks the violet color or purplish tone I expect. The foot is oddly convincing, though a bit sloppy, it is in fact well formed. I think itis probably a fake, and without breaking his heart I will tell him within a few days.
I appreciate you hanging in there for hope, but like I said, I fear it is fake. The same sale had a fake Kangxi vase, and a fake Qianlong bowl, That I wish i had time to tell him were not on point.
Anywhoo I will shoot a few pictures hopefully tomorrow outside.
