I found an unusual monochrome bowl which I have never seen a glaze nor foot like this. Any clues are appreciated I do believe it has age.
Is the double rim a clue as to age? Nice color.
@lotusblack If I am not mistaken - Yaozhou Ware or style. Not 100% positive sure. you will figure this out.
@lucky maybe when I figure out why the lip is unglazed I don’t think this had a lid.
It does look to be yaozhou style, but I am not sure it is an early piece. The colour may be looking dull and dark because of the photo or my screen, but it also seems a bit stiffly decorated and maybe there should be spurmarks? Maybe later later pieces were glazed on the rim?
I know so little about these wares but koh-antique.com has a section, I think that is the address.

It is a green Ding type molded bowl from the Cizhou kiln system( most likely), or at least trying to be. The rim is trimmed like that so they could be fired on the rims. Pretty rare, so I am not sure if its legit, I don't even have an example to show you, I just saw one once a while ago in a museum collection.
Can you post some close ups of the glaze?
What are the dimensions?

Hey Julia,
Just a random side note... Generally the ones with the un-glazed rims came after ones with glazed rims and kiln rings or blobs of clay, or at least in the middle period (Song-Jin), because at that time they could safely stack more upside down than on firing supports. That said, I don't think Yaozhou wares ever did that, it was seen on Qingbai, Ding, Shufu, Jizhou, and a bunch of other folk kilns, but these are the major ones (at least before my coffee kicks in).

I was looking for the museum example and this kept popping up.... I don't know the legitimacy of it, I swear the museum one looked different, but at least this is what comes up on google, similar type. I know there is brown and green Ding wares, but I think the tones are not that dark green usually.
Still a really great bowl you found whatever it is, I like it just as a decorative thing if its not what it looks like it is.
One thing I notice is the glaze is rather thick and the edges of the foot arent sharp enough to me at least, but I really dont know.
I'll hopefully come across the one I was thinking of eventually... but like theres only one I have ever come across, so no idea where.... Lol.

I have to agree with Jeremy that to be of the Song dynasty this would have to be an extreme rarity that falls far from the norm for that period. That raises red flags for me and I would guess a much more modern production. The incised decoration has elements that I have never seen from the Song period and Yaozhou examples usually have a grey paste. Later dynasties (Ming or Ching) would have no economic reason to revive an archaic ceramic kiln practice from centuries past. Also, from the photos your bowl looks too technically perfect.

@william I agree that this is most likely a copy and my reasoning is just as you stated it has no flow if you get what I’m saying. It looks to uniform.
