I have no idea how to date a bottle like this. I am pretty sure it is red glass but do you guys know when this might have been made? I assume the clue to dating is in the details of the mask. Any info and tips for dating are greatly appreciated. Cheers! John
It is a ruby glass bottle, dated surely to the 19th century.

@clayandbrush Thanks for that information! Did they also make these ruby red glass bottles in the 18th C or ws this something that started in 19th C? If they also made them in the 18th C I would love to know the differences in how they did the masks.
The ruby red glass was introduced in China during Kangxi, by German Missionaries who were expert in glass making. It has colloidal gold in the recipe.
Your bottle is 19th century, it is not matter of how the masks were carved; 18thc century bottles were different.
Sorry but I am not willing to go more into details here in a Public Forum, but consider your bottle as 19th century for the overall shape.
If you ask me if early or late 19th century I don’t know. Keep in mind that snuff bottles are not like porcelain, the dating is broader.

be aware that it is not an easy task. Snuff bottles surely dated to the 18th century are rare. Most of those dated as such are indeed not.
You will see that many datings from the major Auction houses are just Qing dynasty or 1780 - 1880. As said, it is not clearly possible like it is for porcelain, because of lack of documentation.

There you can see that it is not possible to tell why mine is 18th century and your 19th century. It must be known.

@clayandbrush It sounds complex to learn about this subject. But still, you were able to see that my bottle is 19th century so there must be some design elements that tipped you off related to it's shape, the carving, etc. that I will learn with sufficient study I hope.
