Hello! Can anyone verify the age of this jar. Perhaps late Qing or republic? About 4 inches diameter and same tall. What is the value, perhap $50? Thank you

My pc is playing up and taking ages to enlarge pictures, so I have given up. Is that China written on the bottom?
As for the price, all I would say, in general, is that there really are a lot of these around and that affects value.

It has the red CHINA stamp on the base. It is small and seems regular.
There are some beautiful Prunus from time to time. They stand out when you see them. I am also trying to get a Prunus but i am very fussy and want to try get the breaking ice on the Prunus. I think i posted one of these early 20th Prunus that was for sale at just £2. It sold for £2 :). So these come in all price ranges.
There was a very good thread recently on Prunus and comparisons to Kangxi Prunus. Giovanni posted some very good examples with excellent descriptions.
Also you can get bigger and better.
Because of its small size , I would not pay $50 for this jar. They are very common , as others have said. The China stamp is not a very good indicator of date (could be anywhere between 1900 and 1990?) but I guess yours could be 1920s - 1950s. It's hard to be sure.
I haven't checked all the ebay listings mentioned by short-dong, but the pair being sold by uk-salvage maybe modern (post 1950s ) - these jars are still being produced now so , caution as always

Just came across this website producing 'custom made ' lamps to order , at fancy prices (!) with your choice of blue and white vase ; some evidence of demand for new 'old style' vases.
The company is doing nothing wrong and makes no claims about its vases being anything other than new , but I can see these turning up on ebay now or in the future as 'vintage, possibly republican' etc etc.

They are also selling some ginger jars converted to lamps - quite useful to judge how similar these new items are to ones for sale on ebay

I agree with Tam $50 could get you a much more appealing Prunus. If you study them you will soon realise to distinguish that there are the very well painted and not so well painted. The very well painted are usually the 19th century or older. They are much more detailed and pleasing to the eye.

Yep, The teeth do look splashed on. They must have made millions of these Prunus jars. I think either get a cheap one and you have a Prunus or dig deep and get a really beautiful one 🙂
Hello Everyone. If you buy them for a £1 with £4 for postage these sell at snooper flea market type places for between 8 and 12. You'd have to pay commission on selling them so you could be into a profit of about £3 per jar. It might not seem much but many a business runs on penny profit. You just have to sell millions of them for it to work. Best wishes all
