Hello!
can't remember seeing much of this kind of decoration, what you guys think of this piece?
Cheers!
I tis unusual, could it be republican/Proc. I am guessing People republic of china period because of the chinoiserie scrolls which were common in Proc decorations.
@short-dong personally don't see it PROC.. but republic maybe, here's a couple details
let's see if we get more insights!
thanks!
Yes, The colour really is what reminds me of PROC, however Scrolls are on procelain going back hundreds of years.
thanks you remind me to search for doucai:

well, not worth it I'm guessing 🙂
I swear that was my first guess Guangxu as it did remind me of a vase I have which is Guangxu 🙂 but however the bats and the scrolls also remind of some of the Proc designs they used on the pink famille rose vases.
Well well done for discovering this yourself. I guess ithas good value then.
@short-dong well, is it worth getting it's the question now... because we still need to further determine it's period.. They asking for around 200$.
24cms
Yes, let's wait for the more knowledgable. Confirm it is genuine and worth so much.
@lep The plate bears a Qianlong mark, but the photo shows it off center. The mark is also poorly rendered.
The enamel work is in a Chinese manner of lotus, but the color combination is not traditional to famille rose or doucai… perhaps better described as polychrome.
However, the overall rendering is a bit sloppy.
The absence of careful rendering with an unusual color grouping, along with an off centered mark suggests it is late 20th or newer.
I’d recommend you pass on it.
I personally would pass on this one. The depiction of the bat's on the reverse are hideous. The overall styling is stiff.
20th century example and not collectable in my opinion.
Better to save for something better
Mark
yes, not worth it!
my main business is antique books, but i do love to look at chinese antiques, and this forum and bidamount in general is the place to be for that! I love these feedbacks, back and fowards and pieces users submit! Ill keep posting
best wishes all!
🤗
It's a genuine piece from the Guangxu period. Late 19th century. Yes, the workmanship is somewhat inferior, but that is true of most Guangxu porcelain. $200 buy it now is maybe slightly high. At auction it probably wouldn't exceed $200.
This doucai-type decoration was sometimes applied to ling long (rice grain) porcelain. I see sets of these doucai ling long teacups etc. on the Japanese market all the time. They fetch fairly high prices.
Various marks were used on this type of Guangxu porcelain. Qianlong mark is very common.
There is certainly a market for lesser-quality late-Qing porcelain. People in Hong Kong and Southeast Asia, for instance, love it.
Weclome Henry 😀
You might have stepped into a snake pit 😉 As there seems to be differing opinions but great post and a warm welcome. However you say it so confidently that i think your right.
