Hey Folks,
So this popped up with a buy it now for $10 on a site that I was perusing, and I am wondering if it could be Transitional Period.
The pictures are awful, and out of focus, but I swear I have seen this form dated late Ming, at some point, and I know the painting quality was varying at the time, also I have seen pieces before that had a Zhengde Mark form the Wanli through the early Kangxi periods.
Just wondering your thoughts, With awful pictures and all.

Measurements are spot on, on fortunately I cannot see what the foot looks like on either.

Both the examples you found have a willow tree and yes, I wish the museums would show the reverse but on the plus side, the painting looks somewhat primitive on the examples as well as the subject dish. The mark looks carefully rendered and placed, which is another plus. I hope someone will have come across this style. Sharon
I also found a few others in similar form that were differently decorated. I agree the mark is thoughtfully placed and even though blurry seems well refined. THis is a better painted one IMHO but similar.

I figured unless it was a down right fake, it was worth more than $10. It was 1am last night and I just didn't want to dilly dally on buying.

So it arrived and I am a little stumped.... The paste is nice, somewhat creamy, and what little dirt is on the feet washed off for the most part with soap and water, didn't scrub it though so there is a little bit remaining. There is a slight iron oxide line right at the edge of the glaze (not sure if it shows in the pics), not applied like I have seen on recent pieces. The mark is actually very well painted and symmetrical even though it is on a curved bottom. I do not think it is modern, but I'm not sure how old it is. Wonder what others think.

You certainly have some bubbles, which some do not put much stock in but others mention occasionally. Did not notice the sweet bird and butterfly earlier. The blue line around the edge is different from the example you found and you can see where it starts and stops with the brush. It is a carefully rendered mark. I hope someone will know, if not maybe send for evaluation. Sharon
@jbeer2121 Jeremy, it sure has qualities like Wanli period wucai, and the flat/stiff blue would not rule out being Wanli period.
The design of the peach form seems Qing like and the somewhat celadon like color of the paste, rather than pure white, makes me think this is a 19th c copy.
Maybe if you post a few pics in very bright natural light I could get a better sense of the age.
At this point I think late 19th c.
