I am a little apprehensive to post this find but, I am a novice, so please forgive. This planter is 6" tall and 6" diameter. Blue and white glaze with multiple pock marks. Inside, the glazing seems to stop about 1" from the opening and is slightly eroded throughout. The inside bottom for some reason is still pretty clean with minor staining. No makers mark as I could tell. Simple pattern and was obviously used for many years. The bottom has evidence of some protective pads that, years ago, have worn off. Was dirty when I found it and just gave it a light clean. Am sure this planter has minimal value but I like the simple foggy colors and the distant mountain plus the fact that it has survived despite the hard life it has had. Thanks for taking a look.

It looks Japanese to me, too. I am only guessing at a date but maybe 1960s to 1980s? It seems zlittle unusual not to have drainage holes, maybe it is intended to be a brush pot, or some kind of storage jar?

In my opinion your item is definitely Japanese. It appears to be a image of Mount Fuji.
I dont, as already posted by Julia believe it's a planter. I think given it's size it's either a brush holder or most likely a scroll holder. In addition it may have been used in more recent times.
As to age I really don't know based on the images etc. Although I think it's older than 60's. Perhaps early Showa period 1926-1989.

The one on Ebay sold for $126.50...not bad at all. I’ve seen that exact item for sale before in a local shop at least once. I hadn’t realized it would fetch that price.

Beautiful piece!
I’d say safely early 20th century (as far as the dating goes).
Very high and narrow foot - well formed shape.
Has several elements that you’ve no doubt noticed featured on later pieces produced across the decades following; and you found an early one in remarkably well preserved condition.
