Found so many things this weekend that I am unsure about, but trying to limit myself to three new topics a week...as not to spam this forum. This vase has what I think is a fuku mark with a spiral. But that doesn’t narrow down who the maker is for me, other than it being Arita I presume. Early 19th? Late 19th? Later? Thanks, Todd
Including a pic with another persimmons vase I found on the same day. Early 20th century fukagawa.

Does the persimmon vase have an inward lip on the opening? That is something I have only seen on (mid-onwards?) 20th c items, obviously that proves nothing!
All I have found is that kind of mark mark was used on porcelain from Hizen but it was written Hezen in the old book I looked it up in.
Not sure that helps, other than possibly narrow down Arita assuming the author is correct.
Look what I just found though. It was on pinterest (which I don't usually follow links to) with a link to an ebay sale ($82). It wasn't displaying the pictures on ebay so I copied the one on pinterest and took the blurb from ebay, but I will put the link, below it, in case it works for you. Obviously, I can't speak for the accuracy but it is an interesting starting point, maybe?
This is a plate of Japanese ARITA porcelain ware. This was made about 70 years ago.
ARITA is the pottery of SAGA Prefecture in Japan. It is the same as IMARI.
It is traditional popular pottery.
This potter's name is the 12th generation KAKIEMON SAKAIDA (1878-1963).
He is very very famous potter in Japan. This is the original which he made. I guarantee it.
This is made very well and is a beautiful white porcelain with fine painting.
The style of his persimmon is very popular.
Such a work is a feature of past KAKIEMON. This is just KAKIEMON's work.
This is the high-class plate seriously made by the specialist.
Please purchase at this opportunity and add to your Japanese collection.
Hi Julia,
Great information as usual, thanks so much. So, this mark was used by Kakiemon. I wonder if that makes it definitive that it is Kakiemon or just makes it a possibility because others used the exact same mark. For the Hizen information, did you see a picture of the same mark, or did it say Hizen used a fuku mark? Fuku is done in different ways apparently. I actually follow this seller, katsuragi, on ebay. I like the way they describe items. I consider it educational to follow their lots. At least I hope it is, they seem to have good expertise.
Best, Todd
Forgot to answer...Yes, it does have an inner lip, not a fortuitous sign for age I guess.

Stumbled across this one which is for sale right now, same seller. The mark has a name apparently, Uzu-Fuku. So, combining the information, this mark has been used for around 200 years, maybe more. (1750?-1950?) Please don’t quote those dates, just postulating. But seems to be Kakiemon. Just have to figure the age now...

Nice example. Pity about the large crack!
Mark
Todd, it was in an old online book. I will get a link. Hope it takes you to the correct page. I like that plate!

Hi Todd - nicely decorated plate, shame about crack and glaze lines! The 'fuku' base mark commonly found on such pieces.
Stuart
Thanks for the link Julia! I wish I had some books on porcelain. They seem a bit expensive to buy online. I always think about the piece of porcelain I could buy with the money instead, which is perhaps a foolhardy way to look at it ? . But I do keep my eye out for books when I am out and about, no luck yet.
Hi Stuart and Mark,
Yes, shame about the crack, which does not seem insubstantial.
