Hello everyone,
I would like to share this figure for your appreciation. It is 50cm tall and 18cm wide. Any thoughts on this type of glaze? I would risk an age around the beginning of the 20th century ... but I'm not sure about that. Any information will be welcome.

The bead work like glaze is moriage, but overall I think kutani style is an acurate description. Late Meiji, so I agree with your age assessment. Pretty!

A nice kutani kannon statue you have posted.
I think it's probably taoshi period. So 1920's. Although it could be a little earlier as suggested by greeno107.
I believe @Brettm aka Michael has recently posted another example. Perhaps he can also provide an opinion in due course.

Very nice figure in shape and form, decorated with restraint and in keeping with the whole. A good example of less is more. As far as date and Kiln or region of origin that's a very debatable point. Prior to the Meiji Japan was divided into very distinct area's and regions that were almost permanently at war. There was very little in the way of infrastructure roads bridges etc. Unless you were high born you lived your life close to where you was born under the strict control of your local Lord. This led to distinct styles and forms in ceramics and the terms we have today in describing them Kutani, Satsuma, Seto, Imari etc etc. After the rapid changes in the Meiji all this changed with improvements to infrastructure and the decline in power of the local leaders. Artist and workers were free to move about and exchange ideas and designs. The other change's in controls led to a more corporate structure of ownership of the kilns, the need for capital to import sophisticated machinery and methods meant that previously distinct production started to come under the control of one person or a combined group. However you fine figure does display qualities and colors associated with the old Kutani Kilns. The touch of green to the fish basket, and the blue is very restrained and in keeping with the whole. The raised decoration is skillfully applied and in keeping with the subject. Your figure shows the grace, quietness and the peaceful nature that a depiction of Kannon should show. The paste showing on the base is very good quality and the white glaze good.
All of which to my eye makes me think your figure is late Meiji rather than a little later as we are only talking the difference of a very small period of time it is probably not worth debating. Mark is correct I did post a figure I have for sale on Ebay think it is still showing in the items for sale section it is very different to your figure which is why I have dated mine later than what I think yours is.

Very pretty figure. I was confused a bit because I had associated the black of the hair and the way head looks to early 20th Kutani. But the white moriage areas looked 19th century to me. So, I wasn’t sure which it was. Apparently the former, I defer to Michael and Mark.

I particular like the way the phoenix's, or Ho-Ho birds, wings and streaming tail elements are depicted on the clothes, wrapped around the head, shoulders and trail down the back and front, just lovely ...
