Hi everyone..is this bowl a new bowl?
Thank you.. 🙂
Doug
Hi Doug,
Something about this one feels newer to me. The shape is an odd one for Kutani revival. The rim looks newish. The colors are also off, aren’t they? A yellowish-orange and the gray seems not quite the right shade. If I was attempting to buy an antique, I wouldn’t be confident from the pictures...
Todd
take it with a grain of salt
Yes I agree guys... The colors are ( like Peter says).. "not harmonious". Not sure whats going on there myself but it is enough to be "something" I am sure..lol 🙂 Thank You!
It's a interesting bowl.
I do hope someone here recognizes it's period.
Mark
@imperialfinegems I noticed the foot seemed to be trimmed very well on it and remembered Peter talking about that in his videos a lot.
There are great discussions on these Fuku mark pieces on Gotheborg and recently many modern pieces are making there way into the market. Your bowl is most likely a modern piece. The trimmed foot is very odd the foot does not fit the Typical Japanese shape the enamels on these wares are much stronger. But the biggest issue is the mark it’s just not complete every authentic piece I have seen the mark is strong bold.
@lotusblack Thank you Brian.. I think I actually took it home because of the foot and the enamels.. the glaze and overall look just felt "new" but the few things I have learned about hunting good pieces kept going off like a red light.. (nice trim, good paste on foot, fairly good enamel work,...) I wonder if this was made to fool people or just to be complimentary "Asian" styles?
I am not sure about this. Maybe it is just decorative modern ware.
@short-dong Seems there are just too many "no's" for it to be anything really good. Must have been a talented modern ceramic artist? Thanks for your help SD!! 🙂

We are not certain either way. However you can look through some backamrk catalogues and try and find the backmark. I am not famliliar with the bakcmark, it appears incomplete.
A good start might be Gothborg.
@lotusblack Yes, it looks like the Fuku mark on Gotheborg, do you think some of them could have been copied in the seventies/eighties when the Japanese market was white hot?
I remember once on a thread on Gotheborg about a clan that trimmed the feet in a triangular fashion. These wares where considered very high quality I just can’t remember the name. I would try searching for references on this type of trimming. I have seen the artistry of the angled foot it was superb.
