Just got this very pretty late 18th century (1780 give or take a few years) tea caddy with a side profile of Apollo in a pink medallion. I have found a few examples similar but none tie it to a market, most seem to be Continental Europe, Danish, Swedish, or French. Still working on that....
It also has a very unique brick and column patter in Bianco-Sopra-Bianco as a border, which I haven't found on anything else... pretty neat.
Curious if anyone has seen these in a reference anywhere? Or just thoughts in general?

Oops.... forgot to add this. Here is one example of an armorial variety, of a similar pattern.
Looks like Napoleon in profile, maybe not, but First Empire France responsible for the popularity of Neoclassical style.
P.S. see Jacque Louis David's coronation painting Napoleon crowning Josephine, I knew that gold laurel wreath on Nappy's head looked familiar.
It’s beautiful. In the book „A tea caddy collection“ there are many of a similar form which was typical for late Qianlong, but the design is unique.

It does totally look like a profile of the young Napoleon, interesting.... I noticed the portrait has a lyre in graisaille behind the head and so I was thinking which Greek God's were known for that, I thought at first Orpheus, but settled on Apollo when I found a cup and saucer online listed as Apollo. I will say I think it is later than 1760 closer to 1780-90, unless of course I can find something making it so early.
Kind of cool that it is early for the Neoclassical designs, I think we always attribute them to Napoleon and the First French Empire, but I think it was just popularized around then (1810 or so).

Totally need that book now... I just looked it up, super cool collection. My book buying is out of hand, but I guess that is to be expected in the dealing/collecting world.
Definitely know the form as late Qianlong, but I didn't expect such a design on one. Interesting that they went Neoclassical so much earlier.

It seems when I find caddies they are almost always missing their tops, and this one is unfortunately restored at the neck so perhaps the top is lost to time.
I assume it had that green Greek key border on it, would've liked to see it.

I have sent a couple of emails to dealers to see if anyone might have an odd cap available. No luck so far. This is probably going to bug me every time I pass by the piece.
It is 1 1/4” diameter. I’m sure one is hanging around in some dealer’s odds & ends box.
