I am wondering if this bowl shape is unique and how old people think this is. I believe it has the Fuku mark and that it must be Japanese. the decoration seems quite nice. Also is the center petal design something specific that is seen on other things? Thanks for any help you can provide. John
The shape is unique to me, fired upside down, attractive.
@julia Interesting idea, but wouldn't it be too deep to be an underplate? I am thinking of an underplate being similar to the trays that go under gravy boats, Tureens, and teapots, and those are rather flat, so you must have something in mind that is very different. I'd love to see an example of something similar to what you are thinking of if you have a picture you could share. Thanks!
It may be nothing of the sort, but I just did a quick search and found one example where the cup part looked more like your bowl and it had a lid and an ordinary saucer underneath, but also this new one:

@johnshoe Hey! I just bought a plate with the same 5 point design in the middle, but with a different mark. '光' in Chinese is Guang, and in Japanese is Hikari, both which mean 'light'.
Now, if the plate is Chinese, the mark dates to the Ming, but I think it is Japanese, 17-18th c., and they copied the mark, but this is just a guess...I have no documents to back it up.
Very cool! Not sure if you made this observation yet as well, but if you count all the points/petals of the central design they add up to 16, which is how many petals the Imperial Japanese chrysanthemum seal has.
It could be a particular Japanese family crest. @johnshoe Shine is correct! These type of porcelains apparantly is called Ai-Kakiemon.
Here's an example that shows that flower design on the front center like my plate.
