I could not believe that she thinks that some european massively produced plate holds 25x more value than whatever piece of asian porcelain she holds in her other hand.
How much is the asian plate she's holding here actually worth / when is it from do you think?
I am assuming that she is talking in terms of which would be best to use ie the most practical? All the same, having looked up the make and replacement value for similar items $25 is well over the going rate and it isn't a particularly attractive dish. If she reversed the prices, I would still walk past it at $1.
The Japanese one I would definitely pick up at $1 but would not pay $25, certainly not without seeing it more closely.
I would still say the prices are in principle the wrong way round unless she knows something about that French one that I can't find!

I agree, that modern porcelain plate in her hand is not something that sells very well in my neck of the woods. At least the other piece is interesting and has a story to tell, even if ultimately worthless.
Most of what she said about Staffordshire transferware was terribly misleading too. Pieces like the large meat plate that she is holding (c.1860) will not typically have ‘Made in England’ on them. Sometimes there’ll be ‘England’ or ‘Staffordshire’ in the cartouche but not very often. Also, Staffordshire may have been the centre of 19th century pottery production in the U.K., but there were many other excellent potteries in Bristol/West Country, South Wales and Scotland. 100s of books have been written instructing collectors on how to identify 19th century transferware precisely because so much was left unmarked and there were so many competing potteries selling similar wares.
I also don’t understand why she thinks ‘heat’ is the no 1 enemy of pottery and porcelain? How much heat will get trapped in a piece of tissue or whatever it was she was waving around?
I had encountered this lady before and it took me about a minute into another video of hers before realizing she was an annoying loud mouth with a very undeservedly high impression of her antiquing skills. Her advanced formula for collecting porcelain: if it's right it's all right, if it's brown set it back down. What a joke.
Its great to see others opinion of her. I have tracked her for years in astonishment with her poor demeanor and strange logic that you should only trust an appraiser and not people on the internet that specialize, all the while she off the cuff makes valuations that she claims are based on sold comps while doing it live in the moment? In the Murano circles it is quite comical some of the modern asian glass she claims is Murano and gives murano glass value to.
Just for fun I watched one of the 2020 videos where she gives a value of $75 for a Rosenthal dish. I found many of the same dish on Etsy and even on Ebay US for about $20 each.
According to her website she takes $59 for a valuation or $250 for half an hour video talk.

I'd take a hand-decorated qingbai kitchen dish over a mass-produced 1960s white one any day!
