Went to a flea market and a vender had two items for sale one looks like Song Cizhou ware the other looks like song stool. Are they fakes?
I am a bit confused. Which is the stool?
Sorry, I am not getting a sense of shape from the photos. The lighter one looks like a pot that is glazed all round and a flat bottom or am I seeing that the wrong way up and the flat bottom is the seat?
However, that leaves the other as a lidded jar, maybe? Or is that the seat? In which case it has a solid top and no hole in the base? Are there holes in the side?
Please could you step back and take full profile pictures? It might be easier to see what you have, thanks.
@julia the cream color object is some sort of stool or pillow it was about 10 inches high. The bowl is the dark brown with dragon chasing a pearl. Never seen a stool this small. As for the bowl it looks Song but they fake these a lot. They were on glass shelf I think it’s giving the picture a distortion of looking longer maybe.
I see! I am looking into a bowl. I thought it was a lid belonging to the lower part.
I have to say I have never seen a Song bowl decorated like that and I can't find anything comparable, sorry.
As for the low stool, if that is what it is, I think it is rather nice as a planter (ie the other way up) but I don't know when it was made. I only have one cizhou piece and it isn't glazed like that - at least not like the outside, interesting how the inside looks so different.
Hope someone can give better assistance.
Quite possibly that is the style, I just haven't seen that kind of border on them. However, I haven't much experience of these, only what comes up in auctions I may go to and many of those are probably not genuine Song examples.
I@julia I’m not sure this is genuine but if someone with experience says it is real I would probably go back and purchase the bowl because of the boarder.
This is the compete pictures of the Stool I guess as you are not at the location of the item.
Well, it looks like a very humble stool. I worked on an archaeology site where a motorway bypass was being built, and we were digging up old neolithic pottery and nearby was bronze age archaeological atrifacts, there was so much pottery and flint other beaker people artifacts it was a treasure trove.
If you look at the first picture of the stool and focus in on the damaged part, it is that part that strikes me as very similar to the neolithcal pottery fragments we would find.
In the first picture in the damaged part, the material looks very much like the neolitichal pottery we uncovered. Obviously the glaze changes what that is, but is it possible it was later poorly glazed for some simplistic use.

@short-dong That is the complete size 1/4 the size of a normal garden stool about the size of a snare drum. It looked very old. But I didn’t know if it was a fake I think it was used to step on like a kitchen stool.
