Hi Peter,
Cool find! These are famille verte wine pots. I don't think they're puzzle pieces, but they're supposed to be in the form of a "shou" character. I think yours is early 20th century, but I'll wait for others more experienced to respond.
For your perusal:
A high quality one (in my opinion) that I bid on, but went a bit too high for my taste:

John
It's my opinion that it's a modern interpretation and not an earlier one.
Mark
@bartholin If it is not a copy then you are correct on the dating, before 1921 only the word China. Maybe one of the members in the know on faces will speak to those as a dating mechanism. Nice examples you found. Sharon
I'm always too optimistic with age. Apologies for my mistake. Perhaps I'll wait to respond in the future.
John
@bartholin i dont understand why they call it tea pot it in all the books the louvre has one and its always described as wine pot.
They are good decoration pieces even the new ones are well worth a 200 dollars
I read somewhere that the main difference between a teapot and a wine pot is whether or not there is a strainer on the inside of the spout. I think in general, these vessels are categorized as wine pots because it would be difficult to see whether there was a strainer, and even if there were, it would be difficult to clean/remove the tea leaves.
John
Agree with Mark, most probably a modern copy. I don’t think these pots were made for actual use, as they are not practical. Maybe just something to impress your friends once but the rest of the time purely decorative.
Birgit
@imperialfinegems Posted at exactly the same time! Did not see your post, troublesome that they would fake an turn of the twentieth century China stamp and blur it on purpose, why not go for the gold and put a fake mark on it? Curioser and curioser. Sharon

Worked with me, lol
Too late to edit, but I wanted to add that I thought it was early 20th century because of that blurred "CHINA" mark. A book I have generally in a section regarding China and Made in China marks:
(1) Porcelain with no marks are before 1891 (unreliable),
(2) "CHINA" marks are from 1891 to 1919 (Mainly Correct), and
(3) "MADE IN CHINA" marks are after 1919 (Mainly Correct).
Anthony J. Allen, The Detection of Fakes 92 (2015).
I'm glad you posted this, Peter, as I would've continued to believe these marks without any question.
John
@bartholin What's the fun in that, take a shot, it is better to enter the fray than not, "once more into the breach," as I used to say before contracts class led by my most esoteric professor. He can dance verbal rings around you, but he can't kill you. Sharon
someone correct me if I'm wrong. but to my belief, chinese don't use tea pot with a strainer. until more recently. But I still don't see any ceramic teapot with a strainer. maybe the modern glass ones that go on an electric heater.
Neat, I'm happy even if not an early piece, it was fun to learn about for sure! Glad everyone chimed in with info and different observations. I didn't think it was great quality piece when I glanced at it but the unique form intrigued, I don't think I'll be pouring anything into it however.
@bartholin dear John take a look at this small bowl with china mark
what age would this be ???
i have this on my listings so far i has not much attention 🙄
