Hi folks,
This large tile with 3 dragons comes up for auction locally, I was wondering how old it might be? I'm thinking kangxi revival and famille verte colors, but could it be modern? I do not have a picture of the back, sorry.

It is an attractive-looking tile, but the I can't really tell much from the pictures. If I were thinking of buying this and only had this to go on, I would be wondering why the green (and also the blue) are so messy. The green seems to have floated into the yellow in places.
I don't know what that means, but it would interest me. ?
The only other thing I can say is that I had a lovely bowl, nicely potted and painted with waves just like these, it was modern. Again that means nothing, I am just mentioning it. It might be useful.
It is a nice tile and I would be interested, too. If you can't get over to see it, ask them for a photo of the back.

It's a very detailed and well painted design. It has 5 clawed clubs so that might mean something. Is 5 not reserved for imperial or more common in modern than in say 18th century, where 5 clawed were solely meant for emperor.

I agree about the colors, there are a lot of areas with overflow/bad paintmanship, considering how big this is, there probably shouldn't be if this was a quality item. If I compare it to the Familly Verte tiles from that screen that recently sold on eBay (and that were in Peter's video), the colors seem wrong. You also get the feeling that this was intentionally made more dirty/grimy, to look older than it is.
So, as you say, this is likely modern.

I think this is recent and not well-done , especially in the clouds and the border flowers, and as others have said, in the muddy colours.

How interesting to find a similar item! I can't get the photo to enlarge and it isn't terribly well focussed anyway, but I think the hammer price is a good indicator for age and value.
