Could one of you knowledgeable individuals help with this? Is this a rice serving bowl as I saw someone describe a similar one? Also, is it from around 1880 to 1920? I’m unfamiliar with this casserole type form in Chinese porcelain, as it’s the first one I’ve had… or even seen. Ha, I’m fairly new to this.
You pretty much have the answers maybe someone could translate for dating and painter.
Here’s the opposite side of the bowl.
I agree it seems to be what you think it is. I think sometimes these can be described at hot food pots, which is just another way of saying what you described it as.

I believe I may have learned something else too. I though that red markings on the sides of lids and bottoms was a 1970s to 2000s phenomenon, but this lid and bottom are marked where they fit best together as well. Of course, I guess there’s not a way of knowing if that happened in 1917, but it will make me not dismiss an item because of these marks.
