for the poor quality of the photos.. I find modern enamels can be quick thick sometimes (I've never painted on porcelain just canvass and wood usually in oil thou, but sometimes enamel and gloss)

@lotusblack Unique pieces emerge, and sometimes the major auction houses take them, and sometimes the collecting world accepts them and places very high values on them. And sometimes they don't. And sometimes they end up being fakes. It's not black and white, and it's important to me to stay open-minded to new possibilities while also understanding the tried and true knowledge, and so having that balance is a trait I would recommend to anyone in this field. Others may have a different approach that works for them. Many paths, one mountain. I just don't like it when people try to suggest the existing way is the only way. That way of thinking just sends us in circles rather than into new discoveries, which can still happen even with old antiques.

@johnshoe my wife ask me all the time why I would get into a hobby that’s so complex and on top of it most of the world is trying to screw you over. Sometimes I ask myself the same question.

@lotusblack it's ok if you don't re-mortgage the house I guess..  but I see your point.  Some people say a thing of beauty is a joy forever..

@johnshoe we had a long discussion about this. She plays the lotto and I search for valuables. I’m thinking I have a better chance at striking it than the lotto so I let you know who hits first.

@imperialfinegems Hi Adam,

I put in the plaque to be appraised by Peter more than a week ago, I notice on a recent youtube video he said he was going to continue with the appraisal service.  Is it possible to check to see if he got the original message for the appraisal.  Hope he's feeling better...

Hi Thomas,

As you know Peter is recovering from his illness.

It may take a little longer for him to respond to all the requests etc.

You could try a follow up email.

Mark

John Axford from Wolley and Wallis says this is 19th century based on the photos.  He sad he'd put it up for £800 -£1200.  I don't know if I want to sell it, but it's good to get some feedback.
