I'm trying to pin down the age of this one and would like others thoughts on whether it is Meiji or Edo. Thanks!

It's a nice dish.
A little bit difficult to determine as your pictures are well.... You know!
To me it looks late Meiji to early Taisho period. So 1900-1920.
If you could decipher the marks it could possibly point you in the right direction as to both the maker and period.
Brian could also be right here. There was a discussion recently about cobalt blues being used by Japanese porcelain makers. Do you recall this topic?
It was on gotheborg website. The discussion centered around the application of both natural cobalt and synthetic. It's my understanding that the synthetic ones were used after about 1870.
It's do the intensity of the cobalt.
Mark
The mark has eluded me. I got as far as three of the characters - possibly - but sometimes they seem to mean slightly different things in different contexts and also the forming of them varies; basically my interpretations made no sense as they were not consecutive, either.
I think it is around 1910-1920 so yes, I agree late meij early taisho. I think the blue is fine for that period - I also thought your dating on that Gotheborg thread was fine Mark, assuming that is the same one.
There are other things to consider anyway, like the other colours, the style of the decoration and how nicely it is done. Many later Meiji pieces were pretty rough and careless but as it moved into Taisho, I feel the imari-type plates improve again, but have quite a distinct style.
The mark is kigyoku houtei no chin (奇玉宝鼎之珍) "rare precious treasure"
The trimming of the foot is earlier than 1900 late foot are more rounded. The center panel is more typical of early 19th century so is the gilt around the center panel. I have noticed that later Imari tend to be over compensated glazes are much thicker. The Atari aspect of this piece the cobalt look earlier also. But better pictures would help.
@lotusblack Yes, will have to use the attributes other than the mark, because the mark was used again during the nineteen-sixties according to Antiquers. Sharon
