Please help me sort out this vease, I guess it's Chinese and from the looks of it has some age (unless it's a fake). The glaze has unusual almost gold color dot's in it that i have not seen before.

it looks very nice and it might be old. The line where the glaze stops above the bottom looks credible to me, also the damage to the rim. But like you I have never seen golden specks in a turquoise glaze. I hope someone knows more about that interesting vase.

Thank you very much. So far my search did not bring any comparable result. Will see if other members share their opinion. Eventually I'll seek Peter's assistance on this one and update.

Sorry, I can't help. It does look genuinely od around the mouth but I really don't know about these types of ware. All I can say is the shape is very nice and so is the glaze.
I am a potter, there is a modern glaze called Tea Dust that forms golden crystals (I think these "spots" are small crystals). I do not think that this is a modern piece, but I am certainly no expert on divining the age of ceramics. I do think it is a lovely piece
It’s similar in some ways to junyao pieces I’ve seen in books.

In my post above I forgot to mention that the formation of the crystals is dependent upon slow cooling during the period of glaze formation when the crystal forms so that the same glaze may have many crystals or none depending on the rate of cooling through that phase.

Thank you, Junyao certainly have some similarities. The type of clay matches and the were experimenting with inclusion of crystals in the glaze. I will check with Peter and update about it.

you are correct that it seems to have age. I do not know what it is, I have never seen that type of glaze.
It has some Jun resemblance but it is not Jun, as is not teadust. May be not Chinese? I don't know.

I agree the glaze, and the form of the unglazed base don't look Chinese; also the jar's shape is not typical - suggest possibly Korean ? but really don't know

Thank you for your help. It seems that Chinese origin is unlikely, although Shiwan pottery does share some similarities. Perhaps Japanese as Korean forum suggested it was probably not made in Korea. I also found a very similar object that I believe to be a brush pot.
