Firstly I would like to thank Peter for this website.
I have just joined this wonderful forum.
I am very interested in Chinese Porcelain and I have a small collection.
I would like to add these two to my collection as well,please can anyone help me identify and value the above vases for me.

These look like new vases , perfectly nice if they are cheap. The mark says something like 'China.... southern song...... crafts.....' so it's a modern copy of the traditional type of ge crackle ware vases, and for once they are not pretending to be old. The second character (part of zhong guo - China), is a simplified character , so the vase must be made after 1950s when simplified characters were first used, but they look much newer than that.
As to value , I wouldn't have much idea - if I saw these in a shop in China , I would expect to pay several hundred yuan , so maybe £60-70 for the two (?)

These appear to be collector copies that you would normally find in museum gift shops and the mark states “China famous Southern Song Guan Yao porcelain arts.” As long as these are not too expensive you could purchase for display. If you are a beginning collector, I might recommend you save your money and begin purchasing authentic antique pieces.

I would agree with the other opinions expressed. These are not only not antiques, but they are, in my opinion, plain ugly! If you are just starting a collection, if you follow Peter's daily eBay items up for auction on bidamount.com, you can find items that are genuine Chinese antiques and that sell at relatively modest prices. Last week's video showed some lovely really old plates that sold for less than $200.
