Hello everyone,
Here is an object that I would like to ask for your opinion.
I don't know much about Satsuma, but do I believe we can classify this as such? I say this for the style in general and for the "moriage" decoration. Although I haven't seen many Satsumas with this blue ground. Also, I believe that due to the holes in the lid and shape, it is a censer. Any guess about age? All comments are welcome! Measures: 35 x 32 cm

Nice item. You maybe interested to know that Satsuma with that deep blue back ground is called Gosu Blue in past times it was called Imperial or Royal Satsuma. Here is a link with more information for you. Looking at how your item is decorated think Mark is on the money with his dating.

Nice to know about Gosu Blue, I learned something new today.
I have been researching the color blue in Japanese art, as I love ukiyo-e prints and the blue hiroshige landscapes. There is a textile pigment called "Aizome" blue, sometimes referred to as Japanese indigo, it was used in samurai clothing and even in industrial jeans. Very interesting! Thanks again for the help!
