I found this Hayashi Kodenji Cloisonne atr my local auction house. It was in good condition apart from the lid which is very badly damaged.
Doing a brief price assessment of the cloisonne Koro price range, I noticed a downward trend in value. With this one from Christies being the exception selling at what was then 12,000 euro.
Here is the cloisonne from the local auction house and the price it sold for. I bid 190 euro 🙁 but was glad it went so much higher.

I think I also posted Adams Dublin Asian art sale and while the Samurai armours and other Samurai related ware went for a very good price. In the tens of thousands, the more generic Japanese did not do so good. Genuine Samurai Armour and other items will always have a great growing value, as they will always be sought by old Samurai families and are such an imortant part of the history of Traditional and Modern Japan. The Meiji revolution/Meiji restoration and the Satsuma rebellion.
We have a member here that collects Ship plates, he will angry he missed this. The prices are very poor, and it was really the highlighted item and the Netsuke that garnered any real value. Sellingveyr high. A full warrior armour sold for only £1500 and there was a lovely satuma plate that sold for just £80.
@short-dong I'm pretty disappointed to have missed this sale. I've been so focused on my summer internship that I've dropped the ball on keeping tabs on my searches. That's a great price for that lot. 😥
I live in the EU, but even with the 19% additional sales tax some pieces would have been incredible inexpensive. A few of my last ebay buys cost significantly more for compared quality.
It is interesting, that all good buys I made in the last months were at renowned auction houses and not at ebay. It seems that even at Bonhams prices can be lower than prices on ebay.
@asiarob I agree, Ebay is overheated nowadays. Catawiki also is. Auctions or dealers can be cheaper and better. Being a collector, not a seller, at a trusted dealer I know what I get, no hidden damages, no fakes. Maybe no stunning bargains but value for money.
