Hi, i have this Ming bowl on Ebay.
My dad bought it from a Swedish auction in the 80s, it was than listed as Wanli.
Any opinions on that dating or any inquiries at all would be appreciated.

this bowl is really beautiful. I don't know too much about Ming but would say a Wanli dating is fine. All of you in the forum who always try to get a true Ming piece: this is your chance.

I am completely new to this site, but i am very thankful for Mr Combs for applying hos knowledge and letting us chat and post our own objects.

Xin: May I ask how you justify its period as mid-Ming? The vase does not carry with any red flint, though lots of crackles. Also most crackles do not have much dirt inside. -Jim

Because of the decoration and painting style. Inside the bowl there is a symbol from tibetian buddism. Very popular at mid-Ming. And the blue colour is a typical lifeless one, not bright (cheap material) used for this kind of ware.
Very different from wares of imperial court, different materials and quality.

I do agree with Xin that my bowl would not be of the quality found at home of The Emporor.
With that said I find the decoration charming and the colour is more soothing to the eye than what it mat appears on the photos.
I would be devasteted if it would be sold to cheaply. It would help somewhat if one of you guys here at the forum got it though.

seems sold low. only $99
i wanted to bid; but did not because of concerns of import tax and so on. i stay at usa. anybody has experience on it. i like ming b&w porcelain, but not much knowledge on it yet. i am more confident on jades and jadeites.
Someone got a great deal 🙂 but still 100 is not bad. Well done for selling it. It was not high quality and it had bad decay, yes it was old but you can buy a 2000 year old vase on ebay with the 100 dollars. Gordon Gekko (bidamount seller) is selling a beautiful vase from 200AD china. It was relisted after selling for £400 and is now at £79 so maybe place a bid on that.
Here it is, it ends in 6 hours, It did sell for £400 or perhaps higher and he relisted. I have no affiliation with this seller. Just potentially a very good purchase in place the bowl strictly in terms of age of the item.
Here is the last auction a few days ago. While i bid in the last auction i wont be bidding in this auction as i have already spent my monthly budget. I simply can't afford to win this. So it is very good value at the moment. I assume the final bidder pulled out of the last auction.
