Yes, the link helps. I hope you read the Peter's thread/ video about the new Cassini on Ebay. So you get the correct coverage, indeed it would be a crime if this sold for 0.99p 🙂

I think the ebay description is slightly misleading - you only mention 1897, whereas it could be dated 1957 or 2017! I know in the post above you mention 1957, but I can't find that date in the ebay listing.
1957 is much more likely in my opinion.

I agree. I don't think this is an antique. It looks more like a PROC piece which would tie in with the 1957 date Tam mentions. Certainly worth a bid though with the low starting price.
Although, having said that, I have been looking around and I am not convinced the look is quite right for what I am thinking - or the faces. It just looks so 20th c but I guess that may have started at the end of the 19th.
Maybe I just haven't seen enough 19th c vases of this type? 😊
Hi,thanks for your responses and I quite understand your reservations regarding the dating possibilities.
There was an almost identically styled and shaped piece sold 4 years ago and stated as Republic period by the auction house which I come across after the listing went live.
I had to make a decision whether to keep the 1957 date in the listing or remove it and I decided to remove it and as auction houses say ‘let the market decide’.
It is a big risk to list at 99p start and probably my last attempt to see if this really works for unsupported sellers.

Yes I had my doubts too about the faces. Without the dating I would have said probably 1920. So possibly a 1957 vase in Republic style. The colors and faces look wrong for 1897.

Good luck with that. I know what you mean about the sense of it being risky; it is all about gambling on what you feel it is worth, what it may go for and whether it will get seen by those who might be willing to pay what you feel it is worth - and I don't mean top dollar, I mean what you feel it is worth to you.
I am about to list a load of items at 99p start, but they have little value. Recently though, I sold an antique on ebay and researched thoroughly first what similar items were selling for at auction, comparing it to what they were, most likely, being sold on for with dealers who can afford to sit and wait for the high end clients. I decided to go for a reasonably priced BIN and accepted an offer ending up with a good £100 less than I was asking but probably three times what I felt I may have got had I started it at 99p. For me that was a good sale, and hopefully, the buyer will make a profit, too.

For the record I paid in total 150 times the 99p start price after fees and almost 200 mile round trip to collect.
This was before the date and signature was read.
Sometimes you really don't know which way to jump; BIN with best offer or 99p start.

setting. Poem inscription verso, 30cm high. - Some light enamel wear. No chips, cracks or repair.

The connection to Fang Jiazhen is that evident on the vase or does that come from a comparison of his work or style.
