I don't know if any of you have seen it. A xuande marked jar sold for $38,000 on ebay yesterday.
It might be more credible to play innocent and say: Hey! i found an old japanese jardiniere in my attic! I have no idea what it is and has a strange mark! rather than trying to sell it as xuande mark and period jar.
Best comment ever!

To me this is the best way to sell on eBay is to let the buyers make the decision to what
it is. It take the seller responsible out of it and put it on the buyer if it a good piece it will
draw the bids to me you have seven day’s to look a piece over to make up your mind on
bidding for and what you want to spend. You are not going to convince some folks apiece is
a fake or real when you can’t get the experts to agree on pieces I have seen it here that why peter and
the major auction houses all say to buy what you like what you are willing to spend. John
Typically odd bidding on these types of auctions.
1 bidder bids only on this sellers piece,25 bids 100% bidding history with him.
1 bidder bids only on this sellers piece,14 bids 100% bidding history with him.
Another has 5 bids on it and has 36 bid retractions to his name on various items.
The winner has only 2 bids and 100% with this seller only.
Ebay Trust and Safety must be a Hamster on a Wheel if it cant sort this type of stuff out.
The Vase is interesting but I leave others to speak of its authenticity.
Vic
Very interesting observations @Shine
So, do we think the jar is genuine or a copy?

LOT3012|A MAGNIFICENT AND VERY LARGE BLUE AND WHITE ‘DRAGON’ JAR This monumental dragon jar comes from a private French family collection. It was passed by descent through the family to the current owner, a distinguished Swiss lady. The jar was in the collection of her grandmother, Mrs. M. Legrand (1
A MAGNIFICENT VERY RARE LARGE BLUE AND WHITE ‘DRAGON’ JAR, GUAN
XUANDE FOUR-CHARACTER MARK IN UNDERGLAZE BLUE AND OF THE PERIOD (1426-1435)
Price realised
HKD 158,040,000
Estimate
HKD 60,000,000 - HKD 80,000,000
What struck me was the rather cartoonish face and the raised blue dark cobalt outline, almost like tube-lined pottery. But having limited experience and knowledge I wouldn’t have known for certain if it was a fake or not.
Having read Vic’s post regarding the bidding pattern, it’s clearly 3 mates having a laugh, seeing if they can get someone to pay big bucks?

Hi all -
For comparison :- attached images of two guans, Xuande mark/period, one in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, NY, H. 48.3 cm, and the other from the Idemitsu Museum of Arts, Japan, H. 52 cm.
Notice the difference in the painting style between these two guans - look at/compare the beautiful detailing of the heads and body scales, or the drawing of the mark - compared with the eBay vase, which is a total fake ...

Dear Mark,
is it relisted by the same seller? In which case Vic is correct beyond any doubt.
Regards,
Giovanni
Yes my friend, it is listed by the same seller.
Regards,
Mark
Hello, Members
this will not stop until eBay start to charge sellers and the buyer a percentage of selling price like PayPal has. I would bet that why PayPal started this. To stop fraud it always hurt the good seller and buyers .unless you hit them in there pockets your not going too stop it. John
