Hi y’all! Hope your well.
There are two sales near me that have some decent stuff!
What stuff do you think I should look into?
The stuff in green is stuff I’m interested in; ignore the stuff in red.
Any info and tips appreciated!
Clifford
The pictures aren't really adequate, but I would tend to think this is mostly modern with maybe a few early 20th c pieces mixed in. If this sale was near me I probably wouldn't go to it.
@johnshoe My apologies for the bad picture quality.
If you or anyone is willing to, you can view the pictures in the best quality by clicking the links to the 2 sales and opening their images in new tabs: Estate Sale Finder | Welcome (estatesale-finder.com) Estate Sale Finder | Welcome (estatesale-finder.com)
Attached are images that are unfortunately still not clear but slightly better. Thank you for your input!

#khoi,
Hi Clifford,
Always difficult. 🤔
Anyway I think the following items have potential.
Please bare with me as I have to view and manually post them one by one. 😉
The silver framed picture. Maybe sterling silver and either Japanese or Chinese. The 2 lidded items on the LHS have potential to be perhaps early 20th century.
The cabinet is Chinese. But not high quality wood etc. Looks 20th century. OK at a price.
The snuff bottles are all modernish rubbish. So unless they are only a couple of dollars each I wouldnt bother. However the cabinet lookd OK. Possibly Japanese and maybe 1930's. Collectable.
The movable trolley looks 60's or 70's. But I don't know if they are collectable or not.
Here is a unknown potential. The smaller lots on the bottom RHS look to be early 20th century.
The frames pictures would need further investigation into. Could be early 20th century. The lots on the table are interesting.
The Japanese Satsuma bowl could be early 20th century.
Hope this helps you my friend. There is a lot of stuff here but most of it looks modernish. The pictures are terrible. But there is potential for the porcelain on the table etc. It's all down price.
Mark
@khoi I think the pieces you circled in green will not yield much profit if you intend to resell... the ancestor painting is not of good quality, and a tough sell these days.
However, the one table with porcelains has some possibilities...
I always suggest you go first to the 'sure thing' (or the closest to a sure thing that's in the sale). The bowls with turquoise interiors are often mid to late 19th, and if undamaged with half decent decoration on the exterior, you can get anywhere from $200-1200.
The round Qianjiang jar with the wood top (would be better if the top was original) if undrilled and undamaged will get you $200-500 if the decoration is nice all around, or signed/dated by a known artist.
The blue famille rose hexagonal bowl looks good, but these are sometimes 20th c....just be sure there is a reasonably old looking foot rim on it...could bring $400-600.
Pair of porcelain boy attendants holding plates - not sure they're old, but they are cute...buy them cheap...sell them for $100 if they're new, and if old...might be closer to $1000
The remaining two bowl/plate in famille rose colors look okay...nothing special, but they may be better looking in person.
If you are not aware, things are slow on the buying front...fear of recession has buyers clinging to their wallets, so don't buy damage items from this group...they're simply not good enough to perform if they have damage.
Good luck!
@imperialfinegems @greeno107 thank you so much for the thorough and insightful replies!!! When I'm at the sales, I'll make sure to look at the pieces carefully 😉
Clifford
@khoi Looks like Mark found a few more pieces! It looks like a good sale.
I'm on my way to a sale in a few days, too. Can you see the treasure?
If genuine.... a very substantial find. Very historically famous family, so I'll know in a few days.
Perhaps the cinnabar round piece. Not sure if its cinnabar, wood or plastic.
Mark
The two blue cases look new. The one in the lower LHS is Japanese. I know this one but not worth paying more than $2.
Mark
Don’t buy the ducks from the third picture, they are found everywhere, but the parrots could be worth buying regardless of age. People like them. Should be undamaged.
The green shiwan jars on the fourth picture: if you get them for little money.
Birgit
I like the look of the table of bowls etc that Tim singled out.
Some of the figures may be ok, but as with things like the satsuma bowl and canton bowls, the pictures aren't adequate to know that they aren't lesser quality or newer.
It makes a big difference if you are buying for yourself or hoping to sell on.
@imperialfinegems Just created one! My number is 503-807-4217

Enjoy the treasure hunt, don't buy the green stone grapes for more than a few dollars unless you like them, I bought several bunches at the Friendship Store in Beijing in 1992 to give to family and friends for what amounted to 5 dollars U.S. a bunch and all the other tourists were as well. The Satsuma bowl looks interesting, but as mentioned, check it for age and condition. Good luck for finding a prize and gaining a good memory of the sale. Sharon
