want to see what all your thoughts are.thanks John
Dear John,
some of your pictures are sharp, but those of the details are blurred.
Can you take pictures of the whole decoration, with pictures taken by the side of the vase, let say at the distance of the last one, and then cropped to show the whole vase? Like the following one, to be clear:
Giovanni
Hello Giovanni
On my iPad you can tap the picture and bring make the picture bigger,my camera not the best i put on the box to get a better picture, John
Dear John,
those pictures are useless. The style is Kangxi, but to be sure it must be seen with accurate pictures, like the one that I ahve shown, and possibly a bit bigger than that one.
If you have a camera use the camera and not the iphone. The cheapest camera is better than any iphone.
It matter of using it correctly. I could show you pictures taken with old cameras of only 3 megapixels that, on the monitor, has nothing to lose compared to those crazy 24 megapixels pictures, completely useless for pictures that must be seen on a monitor.
Giovanni
Giovanni
You are such a luckest person in the world. I am pretty sure this is a long neck bottle vase made in Kangxi period!
Hello Scottwarner
thanks from my research I have found the same painting in museums pieces and the big auctions
houses. I was talking to Giovanni about finding things at garage sale this is one I found the next day
after talking to him.
John
Hello, Giovanni
I sorry it the best my camera will do like let's try again
thanks ,John
Dear John,
the style is no doubt Kangxi and there are high chances that it is genuine, but I can't tell for sure without seeing clearly the strokes and shades of the whole scene.
Giovanni
Hello, Giovanni
thank you for your thoughts I work of a iPad and camera I have a high dollar camera
but I don't no how to get the picture form it to iPad I like the iPad better then computer
Easyer to work . I will take some higher quality pictures when the wife get back in town.
but looking under a10x loop it very nicely done. Thank a lot John
I think it is a brilliant Kangxi vase worth a fair amount of money but need better pictures as Giovanni has said to check its authenticity and also to check the condition (is the neck rim cut down or polished at all?).
Best wishes.
Crisp photos in day light would be good, the use of a tripod will help this.
Hi John , the photos should be taken on a plain background, with neutral or natural light, and you can crop the results. Using a camera and then editing the results on the computer rather than ipad shouldn't be so hard. (right ?)
(Giovanni, if you open the photo in a new tab and then you can zoom in and see the details of the strokes, and shading)
Can't be sure, but I think the vase is very reminiscent of Kangxi style , but especially in the shading of the mountains and the depiction of the figures, not exactly what you expect to see.
the colour of the blue cobalt is not classic kangxi sapphire blue , but maybe that's ok.
The footrim looks ok too, but again , perhaps the porcelain paste is not quite as dense as you would expect.
just my thoughts.... it's a nice thing , and an interesting puzzle for you to unravel.
tam
I want to thank all for your feedback on this piece from my research it kangxi. It has not been
cut down the size matches the one in Sotheby’s it has a small chip in top rim. Thank you for your
time I will try to post better pictures John
That is a nice find, lucky you! I do not know if it is Kangxi, but it is still nicely done. Like Tam I am not 100% sure about the figures, the paste on the foot and the blue but some of that could be due to the photo/lighting.
Also, is the neck flat like it appears on one of the photos, or is it rounded?
Julia
