@centralpapottery the other one people use is gotheborg. I've never joined its a member thing. I've heard mixed reports about how they treat people which has deterred me from exploring it. I have a very low tolerance for arrogance so I'm not sure I'd appreciate it over there based on others reporting from their experiences. But that's just me. Others might choose to join and find it to be fantastic. Different strokes for different folks.
Gotheborg has a useful list of 100 recommended books on Asian art. No membership required to access that.
I am a member of Gotherborg and have had various experiences. The members definitely seem to specialize but, they are tremendous when it comes to something they are interested in. For instance, I posted my rice grain cup both here and there. For some reason both sites were interested with very good inputs. The problem is HOW to get their interest to even get SOME interest. Both sites gave what I believer is a pretty definitive result. But, There are a few world class researchers over there, IMO. Here is a link to the BEST research I've ever seen on this one SMALL area.
It's rather cheap for ALL THE INFORMATION they have with a strong search engine to look up almost anything going back many years.

@musicnus yes, I believe it was Mark who posted that link when I was looking into my rice grain cup. Great info. One of the great things about this site is you always get someone’s thoughts within an hour and then other knowledgeable individuals give their thoughts within the day.
@johnshoe my tolerance is about like yours. I sure don't want to pay a fee and not get responses or be talked down to, seeing I am but a novice. Thanks for your thoughts. Then again, I may need to wait a few years to join other sites... when I have more time.
Does Gotheborg respond in text or video? It's more expensive, and I like the videos.
I believe Gotheborg only respond in text and only with paid-up membership. There are also numerous rules like only show or ask about items you own.
It's a good site. I was a member before.

Gotheborg is great for research and I have been a member for many years, but have probably posted a dozen times. I stay a member as old threads are useful, but if you compare the number of posts I have on here in less than half the years I have been on Gotheborg that probably says a lot about how I regard the sites.
Probably I should have joined as a man, or had a more brusque attitude, but then I think that on here, too, sometimes and clearly some of the guys feel like I do about the two sites, anyway.
So, yes, I much prefer this site and with the reference library, the experts on here and Peter's videos, I am thinking of giving up Gotheborg and doing the Global Member option on here, instead.
I only pay for a year now and then, not regularly. There are great experts on Gotheborg, but I think they got tired of talking about fakes or Kitchen Qing for the thousandth time, so beginners might not always get an answer.
But I agree with Julia, the research function is very useful.
