@shinigami Sorry about that. But I was curious what you mean by the back being nice? Would you be able to specifically say what you like about it and also do you think a 1900-1920 date would be consistent with what you see? Thanks! John

I just thought the plates looked - potentially - quite nicely done. I can't really enlarge them either, the picture goes blurry, so don't take my word for it. That is just my impression, that they might be quite nice and yes, I was thinking possibly around then, maybe even a bit earlier but better pictures are needed.
If they could be enlarged, Birgit might be able to help with the faces. Assuming you haven't scared her off. 😆Â
Looks like there is a heron or a crane sitting on the wheelchair? That would be lovely! If you are thinking of bidding on them, ask the auction for some close ups.

Iâm sure others certainly wonât mind (especially the many site readers who are not members), but Iâd suggest usually not placing live auction links for items youâre planning to bid on as well... especially on a public (and highly visible) forum.Â
Itâs probably rather a bit too late for that now; and due to the connotation associated with the marks themselves, these will probably sell for an excessively high figure... especially if others decide them to be in the period range suggested earlier.Â
More or less I can tell youâre really excited by this wonderful world of Asian Arts (and I love reading your posts showing that, too), but itâs also filled with an honour system which is nearly non-existent for many; and I wouldnât want you to hurt your chances in future cases or frustrate you in certain scenarios.
Hopefully I donât sound too grouchy; more or less Iâm just trying to look out for you!Â

@jrn I appreciate that. You know, I thought about it before posting it. At first, I avoided doing so for the same rationale you mention, but I wanted the full pictures to be available to those who were taking an interest in helping me to assess them. I have seen some on this forum make statements that they would not bid on something if another was planning to. I admire that integrity and would do the same for them. At any rate, we will see what happens and I will chalk it up to a lesson learned. Thanks again, John
