I wondering with the red stamp Qainlong mark which I’ve been told means made yesterday. What are the earliest red stamp QL iron red marks.
I totally agree this is yesterday. Lol I was thinking 85ish but these cheap vases go great in the garden.
After looking closer I believe I found a date of 1981 written on the foot. So red stamp QL marks are at least 1980 like Mark has indicated is that the furthest they go back?
So does this mean these two vases are late 20th century also? They have Qainlong stamps also but the vases look early 20th century
I’m probably going to list them as 20th century to be safe. I’m not sold yet on later 20th century just yet. But I’m leaning
These are difficult. I know why Mark thinks they’re modern. The faces are not really appealing. But in my opinion Republic. Here are the two closest examples I found. Body and bottom of the vases also look ok to me.
Birgit
I have been staring this for ages and I agree with Mark and Birgit! I am not convinced by the faces but there is enough resemblance to suspect it may be a copy or just be a poor example.
The general decorative style looks OK, as does the base, but I don't like the way the ladies are floating or the spacing of the calligraphy. That late 19th c--style neck ridge looks odd, butterfly wing handles would be more convincing. However if it was produced in a cross-over period of sales, then maybe all of that is acceptable.
On the other hand, it does seem odd to me to make mirror image copies unless you are going to do it better than this, so maybe they are early rather than late.
Maybe as there are differences of opinion, just saying 20th c is best. The less opportunity you give for returns the better. Always best to either say you are not sure or say nothing specific.
I inquired Peter recently about a vase that looks similarly potted and has a similar foot rim as those second two vases you posted.
He said that it was early PORC (50s). I tried to buy it at auction, but it sold for 425 $ and I did not get it.
I attached pictures for comparison
Regards Robin
As I do respect Peter for he’s experience in Asian porcelain I would always question a date of PROC. The reason is that unless the porcelain is dated there is room for error. Between 1900 and 1950 is a zip in time and we need to remember there were a lot of potters. On the PROC vase the black outlines are what brought this conclusion but I have seen those on republic period leaves also. It’s to easy to say PROC when in fact it could be few years earlier and be republic I believe the PROC is actually Republic.

Dear Robin the price does have nothing to do with dating the Vase , for a good copy prices can reach enormus hights
See for example the last weekly bidamount video about the garlic neck vase sold for 360000.-
The Prices on Chinese Pottery are all over the place.
@webboy Yes, I will be interested to see if the 360,000 copy of the old lady on a train to Paris with a 19 million vase in a shoebox, actually gets paid for, a possibility of shill bidding according to the video.
