Hello, We have had this vase for a number of years so at least I know it is not 21stc. But of course it could of been still warm from the kiln when we bought it. It is vaguely Art Nouveau in shape. It has a mark that I have been unable to find...so far. My photo's are not correctly exposed the body color is a bit more Ivory slightly suggesting Satsuma Kilns. It is porcelain and is 16cm tall.

I don’t think I can help. Satsuma usually has the fine crackle, but its not a hard-fast rule I would imagine...few things are. The design has a sort of mirroring effect, reminds me of a sort of psychedelic style a bit. Could it be from the 60s? I have no idea if that has any accuracy, just something that struck me 😋 .

Thanks for your replies. Yes I seem to recall there was a sort of Art Nouveau revival with a bit of added psychedelia in the west in the 60's and 70's . No reason why our more easterly brothers would not have cashed in on the trend.

Hey Michael!
It's a Kinkozan studio piece, probable Taishō - the studio stopped existing after his death in 1927.
Art nouveau pieces were made much in the later part of Meiji-Taishō after the Paris 1900 Exhibition where the style sort of caused a global art influence away from the prior wave of Japanese satsuma-wares; so he and his studio were always trying to "anticipate the trends" to come, and made some really unique pieces like yours as a result - including porcelain satsumas, so it's pretty neat to see this example.

Hi All,
Thanks to @jrn I was able to intensify my vase. The information supplied by JRN rang a bell with me so after searching through some storage boxes I found I had these two vases. One has a Satsuma mark it is in a style you would not associate with satsuma. Just for interest thought would post them. They are about 16cm tall.

I was a bit curious at your choice of that word. Read it a few times to try to gauge your meaning. I thought maybe it was poetic liberty 😋.
I guess that Satsuma vase is domestic ware? Indeed, its not what comes to mind when we think Satsuma. I have a vase of the same shape, with an indecipherable mark.

Lovely soft subtle glaze on that vase I always attribute items that have this sort of glaze to Aawji perhaps wrongly. Think my Satsuma vase was made for export 1930's to catch on to that Art Deco brightly colored pottery that was popular at that time... then again I could be wrong have been before and will be again no doubt.

Being tempted.
Kinkozan made some fantastic vases in European and Chinese styles very tempted by these 3 currently on ebay the trouble is the seller won't budge on price don't blame them but they use that Pintey Bowes postal service which adds over $250.00 US on top of the postal cost.

I do like the first one. Funny enough I was just viewing that seller's items. His prices are high in my opinion. Especially his jades (retail prices and fanciful periods imo).
Not sure what you mean by the postal service adding $250 usd. I thought they were being shipped for about $94usd. Or am I missing something?
