I was at a great estate auction they were members of the Denver Asian Art committee. I bought this table I thought it was worth the $100 bucks. The grain looks like huanghuali but It could be elm I really don’t know.

If you post a photo of the underside of the table, I can give you a better idea of the age, but the look of it seems to be late 19th to early 20th c.
I do not believe the wood is huanghuali....take a look at this photo comparison with a my HH low table:
I think your table is a square table, so probably around 32" x 32" or there about. It would be very unusual to find a HH table of that dimension with a single plank as a center panel. As you can see on my narrow table, 3 planks of wood were used.
Furthermore, the wood of your table is more brown, and while the grain is nice, it doesn't have the same depth of light/dark tones.
Here is a comparison of your leg with a square HH table sold by Christie's:
Your photo is a bit dark to tell for certain, but again, I see that the color of the wood is more brown tones rather than the red/blonde color of HH.
I believe the wood in your table is hongmu (suanzhi). There is a light colored version of the wood, but sometimes dryness can make the dark wood appear very light. People who buy hongmu want the dark version, so I suggest applying teak oil to the wood....with luck and time, the dark color should surface.
@greeno107 thanks Tim I do believe the owner had this restored and the color is varnish coating. It was dark at some point. The table was good price point for me I’m more excited that I got another dragon robe and some nice Chinese textiles but one day I hope to find a huanghuali table.

A nice example you bought for only $100.
I know Tim thinks it is Hongmu. Personally I think it southern elm.
Often confused with HH.
It doesn't really matter if its southern elm or hongmu. The prices are about the same for this period furniture being highly probable early 20th century.

@greeno107 yes they did add the supports I’m inclined to leave them be the table is nice and sturdy. What’s your thought keep them or remove them?
@imperialfinegems thanks Mark I think it’s a good deal at $100 bucks it cost that to take my family to nice dinner. I wish you were at this sale there was a lot of Jade. I wanted a few pieces but I just wasn’t experienced enough to pay $800 bucks for archaic pieces.
@lotusblack Mark could be correct that the wood is Yumu (southern elm)...take a look as I've added a yumu leg to the comparison (far right). Post a close up of the wood...there is a clear difference in the porosity and grain of hongmu and elm up close.
Nice table Brian! I agree that it looks like southern elm.
Here are some tips for hunting Huanghuali. I've been told that something made of Huanghuali should be feel heavier that it looks, so always lift it to see. The wood starts off a deep reddish almost purple color and fades when exposed to light to a lovely warm golden brown. Look for fading underneath or inside a piece. Rosewood also quickly fades when its exposed to light and is heavier than it looks too. Huanghuali is in the rosewood family. And when cut into or milled it has a lovely sweet smell, different but similar to rose wood. Another less expensive wood that looks very much like HH is sour wood, I don't know the Chinese name for it, but when sawed into it smells, you guessed it, sour.

The table was appraised today it’s Hongmu 1880 the retail value was $1500. The added support does affect value would be few hundred more without them.
Here is a brief description I just found of Hongmu wood. Looks like you did well with the table. Thanks for for the update.
