Hello! Is this pale green Yongzheng marked meiping authentic? What period is it from. The mark is not very well done but that may be because this is a very small vase (about 4.5 inches tall) with an even smaller base. This small base may make it difficult to write the mark neatly. I would love to know the age of this vase, thank you!

My guess would be that it is fairly new, but let's see what others have to say.

Can we get better pictures of the inside please. I like it it’s very elegant. It looks well made I can’t tell if the glaze is trimmed. The overall presentation makes me suggest getting it looked at and some more opinions.

I am doubtful it is Yongzheng. I don't think they would compromise on the mark. Miniatures I have seen often use the seal mark. The rather elongated way this one is written reminds me of a 19th c style of writing reign marks. Or some Japanese pieces have marks written like that.

Other than that, to me it doesn't look refined enough to bear a genuine mark.  Is it a textured surface or is that the light? It may still have some age, but like Brian says, a photo from above would help.

@kz111 The mark is written in a way often seen on Japanese porcelains, but if Chinese, I'd say it is Republic period to modern day... hard to tell given that it is a monochrome celadon glaze.  A better photo of the foot rim might help narrow the dating.

@kz111

Hi -

Certainly not Yongzheng mark/period, the overall shape/proportions, colour tone and mark writting are all wrong for Imperial meiping vases of this period ...

Concur with Brian @lotusblack and Tim @greeno107 better images of the footrim, interior and also mouthrim are needed to  help narrow down dating and whether Chinese or Japanese ...

@julia Hi Julia! Thanks for your input. I have uploaded new photos, and the textured surface you are referring to are actually little bubbles inside the glaze. The outside of the glaze is smooth.

The foot is done in an 18th century style. I think way to good of trimming for 19th but modern manufacturing can trim like this . We still need a closeup of where the glaze stopped at the foot if the glaze is filed or trimmed it’s probably modern.

@lotusblack Hi! Here are two close up photos of the glaze at the foot! They do not look trimmed.

Could this be a possible republic vase?

Thanks for the photos My opinion is the vase looks good for Yongzheng but the glaze is throwing me for a loop. But I have to remember some factors it’s small and lighting. Why I do believe it’s Yongzheng is the foot the slip and glaze end perfectly the paste and trimming are correct. I have found the shape on Yongzheng examples. I am no expert but a 12 dollar investment to Peter would be advised I don’t think it’s Japanese.

@kz111 This vase could be late 19th c. to early 20th c.   The recessed foot rim is also very typical of late Qing / Republic wares.

It could not possibly be Yongzheng because the mark is not written well, or for that matter, in the manner used in the Yongzheng period - I believe seal marks were used on celadon porcelains. If there were no mark, I would also feel 100% confident that the vase was not Yongzheng because it simply lacks the overall quality and form expected in Yongzheng period celadon wares.

Do you notice the large bubbles through the glaze?  I do, and it does not look very pleasing to the eye - sorry.

Here is an example of Yongzheng mark & period celadon porcelain from Christie's... open the photo in another browser window and zoom in.  I think you'll find how beautiful and even the color is ... not bubbley at all, like yours.
