Need help I don’t know anything about brush pots all I know is they are being faked is this fake or legit? Thanks
@lotusblack I would guess first half of the 20th, but I could be wrong. I don't think it is too rare for them to have reticulated parts - I've seen that on others and I have one that has some of that as well.
In my opinion it's not 19th century but a much later 20th century example.
If it's under about $20 it's OK.
A lot of these are being produced lately 3D laser. Same with soapstone carvings.

I don’t like that it’s missing that shine if you know what I mean looks dry. Maybe add some oil. It was $15 bucks. Slap this on EBay see if I get $60

I asked Peter about it and he said it is probably early 20th. I just love the details in it. The work is pretty fine.
I am no expert, but I agree with Mark on dating. It doesn't look very good. John's pot looks very nice though.

Do you want to post a pic of the bottom before putting it up on Ebay?
Based on the photos this far, I’m in agreement with others that the carving seems a little rigid for Qing period hand carving.
Here’s the bottom of one I’m selling at Christie’s this September.
Don't forget that Japan also likes bamboo, but theirs were usually for flower arranging and would be simple in style.
