Artvisory gallery located in Melbourne Australia are having a two-part asian art auction.

To be held in the 1st May. A lot of early porcelain, jades and bronzes.

Luke Guan is a friend of mine. He was formerly with Christies New York. Very knowledgeable and highly respected within the industry. I have personally dealt with with him a number of times.

I believe shipping can also be organized in house. Rather than doing third party shipping.

Something for everyone with this sale, even good reference books. Peter's referenced the Hugh Moss volumes before in Lot 361 as "eye candy".

There is a lot of interesting archaic jade in the sale. Some of it with provenance. Will be interesting to see the sale prices of these.

Interesting that they have dated this jade bixie to the Han dynasty while at Christie's they have dated it to the Song-Ming dynasty.

The jade bixie at Artvisory is very similar in shape to a famous jade Han dynasty bixie in the imperial collection.

@zhtail,

Hi Yi Zhang,

Firstly welcome to this great forum.

The lot you referred to is the same one. In the condition report provided by Artvisory gallery it clearly states that its been repaired.

@imperialfinegems

Hello Mark

I have been searching online for bowls made at the Dangyangyu kiln and having seen an Artvisory article mentioning this bowl, I remembered your post about this auction house. I would never have guessed that it had been repaired from the image in the article.

You have mentioned that you are friends with their Asian Art expert, so please may I ask for your help. If possible, please can you ask him what characteristic of the bowl made them think that it may have been made at the Dangyangyu kiln rather than a Ding kiln. I am trying to gather as much information about the characteristics of Dangyangyu ware due to my black and ivory glazed bowl.

Kind regards,

Jeremy

@Jeremy,

I will ask him. But the provenance was from Sotheby's London. So he/they may have simply copied the description etc etc.

@Jeremy,

Hi Jeremy,

I spoke with Luke. He said that sotheby's didn't list it as such. Simply ding ware.

He wrote this in determining the difference:
