Hey all,

I had an original topic going but I figured I'd make a new one and update the title to help catch up to speed with the details for these. The original post can be found here:

https://bidamount.com/the-bidamount-asian-art-forum/help-identify-this/ming-era-claimed-but-i-dont-recognize-this-shape-from-the-period-korean

I picked these up today out of pure curiosity for research and a price that was reasonable of $70 for the set and two mini dishes I'm still researching.

Here's more updated photos of the collection, and I'm hoping the shapes, appearance, glaze and styling drives some ideas to where these may have originated from, possibly when, and maybe how it got this way.

Research thus far hasn't yielded much for their shapes. The color of the glaze, a blue celadon, has similar characteristics to the Song Dynasty, but the shapes roughly reflect pieces found in the Tang Dynasty. Closest assembly of origination reflects pieces found and documented within the belitung wreck, which has references back in the link above.

What do you think? Would love to know your thoughts knowing more about these so far and having them in hand now.

Also something I found neat while sorting through 200 pages on the Smithsonian's website and their ceramic catalogue was a similar match up piece to one of the above pieces: https://asia.si.edu/object/S2012.9.1060/

@pbarski93 hey just a heads up, you might want to reduce the number of pictures you include in a post. This many photos is a bit overwhelming to examine and so people might be less inclined to engage when that is the case. John

@johnshoe Thanks John, I'll see what I can do about this to fix that. I did go overboard on the photos :/

@pbarski93 That's funny, I was going to say the opposite.... 'more cowbell!'

Just kidding!

@greeno107 hah! My day job actually relies on a lot of deliverables (we do special projects around North America with 3rd party contractors, the more photos for certain projects, the better details we can relay to the customer). Sooo.... I think I took that to heart in logic more than practicality 🤣

I'm going to mark this post as solved and setup a better post here in about 2 days so it doesn't have two of the same posts up at the same time. Less confusion a bit I think this way at least.

@greeno107 Is knowing this sketch now a designation of age?
