Hi everyone! I have a few items I am going to post that I need a little help identifying. The first one is this bowl/cup. I'm not sure which it is. I am assuming it is a bowl because the rim is not glazed but I am not sure. Also, what period could it be from? The dimensions of this piece are 3-3/16"T X 4"W. foot rim is 1-3/4". Top and bottom rims are both unglazed. Is it possible it should have a lid? The glaze appears to have a bluish tint. Could someone please lead me in the right direction? As always, I appreciate everyone's help! Thanks again!!

Hello Jessica,
At first glance it looked like a mass-produced bowl from the 21st century, but as there is some wear on the mouth I was in doubt. Sorry I can't add much more, hope that others can help.

I am now looking at it on a different screen, is there a slight lip inside the mouth. If so, it may have had a lid like a small pot and that may be why it is unglazed.
Also, is there a crackle to the blue colour, or is it all over?
There isn't and crackling and I purchased it at a local thrift store. I thought it might have a lid but they didn't find one.

It's a interesting find.
I am unable to verify if it's chinese or perhaps other asian product. It does not look chinese to my eye.
We do have a number of highly skilled and knowledgeable collectors who would know instantly. I do hope they log in with their thoughts etc.

The blue looks in the color used during the Wanli period, but given the fine detail to the lotus design, I think it could be as late as early Kangxi, again... purely on the color of the blue.
I have not seen this specific design, so give it some time...someone will find it.
If the foot rim is very silky to the touch, I think my guess is probably on track. If rough, then perhaps late 19th c.
It seems too refine to be a 20/21st c. production piece.
I tried to get some better pics. I just can't seem to get my lighting to work where you can see the details. You can see the brush strokes in the lotus leaves and the blue underglaze is pretty awesome. Of course, I know there are good reproductions out there but I just haven't been able to find anything similar. I appreciate everyone's help!

@hayesaccounts Put under a lamp or use a flashlight to illuminate...don't worry about reflections. What needs to be seen is how the surface of the footrim is like, and the surface of the slip around the blue decorations. Try again.
Let's see if I did any better. Is this what you are looking to see? If not, please let me know and I will try again. I am not sure if you are looking for a close-up or something further away. There are millions of little bubbles and when I get close to it, I see some ridges under the thick glaze. Thanks!!
@hayesaccounts Whatever this ends up being, I think your additional pictures reveal that it has a color tone and quality that is quite beautiful, and a wonderful thrift store find. Hopefully it will turn out to be something rare and highly collectible, but if not then at least it is at the very least interesting and lovely. John
