Hi everyone I wonder if the good people here can help. I had an urgent valuation ID submitted to Peter expecting a reply within a few days as I have consigned the vase to auction and wanted an expert opinion on the valuation and Peters opinion to go with the listing. I submitted it Tuesday and it Sunday morning now here in England and I’m panicing I have yet to receive the reply and no answer on other emails I have found connected to Peter. I’m running out of time and it doesn’t look like I will be answered anytime soon. I’m uploading photos of the vase can anyone give me a current valuation and opinion the same vase sold for £5,300 something in 2019 with a chip mine is perfect condition.I hope the good people here can chime in and help me as I’m running out of time. @dan12345 Just so you are aware, Peter was away on vacation and then was sick so he got behind on his evaluations and is currently working on getting caught up.
@johnshoe Thank you for the reply I hope he is well. I am so pushed for time I would appriecated any opinions here as who knows when Peter can reply I’ve got no word as of yet , what do you think about the vase and what do you believe is the current valuation? Cheers

@dan12345 Did you mean that your vase has already been accepted into an auction? If so, then I am confused as to what is causing the time crunch for you. Is it that you are trying to determine a reserve price for the auction? If so, then the auctioneer should be able to help you with that if they are knowledgeable about Asian art. You can just follow their lead. But generally speaking, lower estimates generate more interest and better results. Can you tell us which auction house you are working with?
@dan12345 At any rate, it certainly seems very similar to the RM example you shared. So if authentic then it would likely bring a similar price. Although I would be curious to hear what Peter thinks of it so please update us once you hear back.
@johnshoe I have put it into auction but it’s a small auction but it will be online , they don’t have a clue about Chinese porcelain prices. Hence why I want the valuation / opinion of an expert to help them. The one sold had a chip and was nearly 5 years ago. So I urgently need a current valuation and opinion which would have helped. Thanks for your answer, what do you believe it would be worth now with no chip and being 5 years late? Many thanks
@dan12345 Generally speaking the prices haven't changed that much in the past five years for this sort of item. The chip on the RM example was very minor so I wouldn't see a big difference between what yours would bring if authentic. To that point, I would caution you about selling this at an auction house that doesn't have Asian antique expertise. Many buyers would want assurance regarding authenticity which often requires it being validated by someone with good knowledge who people feel they can trust.
Peter has just answered me! And I got the query! He said the mark is reminiant of Qianlong but due to the foot he believes it’s 19th century not 20th century.Jiajing possibly or Daoguang period. Many thanks for your replies and so happy Peter answered! God bless!
