A Chinese and Asian Art Forum For BidAmount Users

For some time we've wanted to add a Chinese and Asian Art Forum to BidAmount.com. Alas, every time we checked around for one that would do what we wanted, none were available.

We wanted a page where folks could upload images and the images could be enlarged for better viewing.  We also wanted users to be able to create their own links without having to get "administrator approvals". Plus we wanted to be able to EMBED things like videos, which can be so helpful.

Well, we finally found the option we've been looking for. A  Chinese and Asian art forum that does what we've hoped it would do and more.

The Chinese and Asian Art Forum For BidAmount Users, What You Can Do

While some forums and discussion boards out there have arcane (we think) rules prohibiting any users with "Commercial intent" or "Commercial Use", it's fine with us. Collectors cannot collect without knowing dealers and building relationships.

  • Dealers and Direct Sellers: So if you're interested in selling things. Post them in the category set up for the purpose. We will be vetting these listings as much as we can. FAKES will be removed as soon as we see them. If it keeps happening, these sellers of FAKES will be booted.
  • eBay sellers: If you have active listings on eBay, Auction or "Buy It Now" items. Upload an image or two and add a link to your eBay account. Please do not list individually dozens of things seperately. Do just one with a couple images or a composite image, it will keep the category clean and easy to use.
  • General Discussions : Here you can ask a question, make a comment or have exchanges on ideas about objects. You can also post images as well.
  • Auction News & Events: Post images and news about upcoming auctions, antique shows (Like ASIA WEEK) as well as museum events.
  • Suspected FAKES and Copies on the Market: "If you see something, say something". We all use the internet to find things, if you come across an auction or a seller offering FAKES meant to decieve folks, post the information and a couple images. Help fellow fans not get cheated! Its very discouraging.
  • Help Identify This: Its for exactly what it sounds like. We all have encountered something we've never seen before, post it here with a description and maybe where you found it.
  • Share Your Favorite Things:  Here you can post things you own or have owned that you liked especially. Perhaps it came to you through an interesting way and has a good story or history tied to it.  So "Show and Tell" here.
  • MOVIES: It is exactly what it sounds like, here you can post links to You-Tube or Vimeo or wherever they are. The page will automatically EMBED the video right on the post.  They can be very educational and expand everyone's knowledge.

The Chinese and Asian Art Forum RULES, A Few Basics

  1. Photos: Try and keep each image under 150 Kilobytes. Resizing them to 700 by 700 pts should do it if saved at moderate resolution.  I only ask so that we don't bury our cloud server. If you need help, let us know.
  2. Basic Manners:  Be nice, if someone says something which seems inaccurate "suggest" an alternative possibility.  We all started as beginners at this, so try and be as constructive as possible in all conversations.
  3. Politics: Leave it at the door on the way in.
  4. Language: Using foul language will get you kicked off after one warning. As my mother once said, "There are pleasant alternatives to swearing that also make the point."

So join the Forum. Share your favorite things and images, buy-sell and promote your items and talk. Oh! and yes have fun.
