Christie's Pavilion Sale Scheduled for October 4, 2016 Hong Kong, the DEXINSHUWU Collection

Christie's Pavilion Auction Fines Chinese Ceramics and Works of Art

The Christie's Pavilion Auction Hong Kong October 2016 catalog is out. This Fall's offerings feature some lovely examples of Tang Sancai wares from the DEXINSHUWU collection.

Christie's Pavilion Auction Hong Kong October 2016, Moderate Estimates For the Middle Market

Unlike "Pavilion Sales" of the past couple years, this time around Christie's has put the "Big Eggs" in the September NYC sale's basket. Opting to put on offer in Hong Kong fine objects, but more academic scholarly examples than the flash pieces so much in demand the last few years.  This sale will feature additional lots from the Dexinshuwu collection.

Many of the most important pieces from this famed collection were sold last spring on June 1, 2016 in Hong Kong. The catalog is "Classical Chinese Art from the Sui to Song Dynasty".

The June 2016 catalog can be viewed HERE on the Christie's Catalog page of past auctions.

Tang  "Hand Warmer"

From the collection is  an extremely attractive "Hand Warmer" (cover lot) and had been previously exhibited in Taipei 1995 "The Special Exhibition of Tang tri-Color."

The warmer has a wonderful shape with attractive openwork and is perfectly glazed in soft warm tones.  Est. $20,000 to $25,000 US (Seems very reasonable)

A Qianlong period Carved Zitan Garden Stool

This fine example once the property of Dr. Edmund Dipper (1871-1931) the personal physician to Emporer Puyi and Sun yat-sen during the 1920's. The stool is of exceptional quality and color.  Est. $65,000 to $100,00 US.

A similar pair of stools from the Estate of Nelson A. Rockefeller, sold at Sotheby’s New York, 7 May 1981, lot 325. They were not as good as the one on offer and sold for 1.8 Million HK $.

Zitan Stools, Estate of Nelson A. Rockefeller.

Estate of Nelson A. Rockefeller. Sotheby’s New York, 7th May 1981, lot 325.

All in all its nice sale, with something for the price conscious buy.
