The 10th Anniversary Of Asia Week New York
Asia Week New York March 2019: March 13th will commence the 10th Anniversary of the long-awaited late winter event, ending on March 23rd. Participating this year are 6 auction houses, 48 galleries and 6 art and cultural institutions. It's all quite a change from its humble start back in 2009 with just 16 dealers working on the Upper East Side presenting an open house. Happily, it was a big success and more than enough to stimulate the steady expansive growth and popularity of the event.
As always a slew of premier dealers from around the world will present the very best of their inventory to collectors, museum curators and dealers.
Here are just a few.

The Auctions, the ones to watch.
As has always been the case, the auctions that hands down elicit the most attention and best prices are objects from coveted well-known collections or discoveries found tucked away into an attic for decades.
During Asia Week this March are three auctions particularly fitting the bill.
Jie Rui Tang Collection Part II, of exceptional Kangxi porcelains. Last year's part one broke numerous records as collectors chased prized rarities from the sublime private collection built over the last 40 plus years.

The Irving Collection Part I, Herbert and Florence Irving over the course of their 75 year marriage, starting in the late 1940's began building one of the most important collections in of the century. Many of their treasures are now ensconced in the Metropolitan Museums Asian Art collection as gifts. The remaining quite massive balance will be sold in a series of auctions.
