I have small 8 sided dish, 4 3/4", dark blue with beautiful Kiri drawings and a 4 line poem and a brown edge; there is a nice Wan Li mark (I think). The Japanese dealer I bought it from said it was from a famous early potter. (Don't you hate it when you forget to write this stuff down!) I'd appreciate some ideas of the date and translation of the poem. Does the brown edge make it polychrome?

To me it looks like average quality early 20th C Japanese work.
I don't think the brown edge makes it polychrome. It has a name fuchi beni - I am going to check - and is often seen on 17th c kakiemon but also on Meiji pieces copying Chinese ko-sometsuke /Tianqi wares and indeed on 20th c igezara pieces. Possibly on others, too, I am not being absolute just saying where I have seen it used.
I like your dish, I hope someone can translate for you. I am not sure of the age. Old kakiemon/ Arita often had fuku marks but I seem to remember there being a piece on here fairly recently with a wanli mark only I may be misremembering.

You are right about Wanli mark, the bottom says: "Da Ming Wan Li Nian Zhi"- 大明万历年制- Ming dynasty Wanli year made.
For the poem, I think it's: 杨柳阴浓夏日迟- the willow is dark and summer day is late- a poem by Tangyin.
The last three character is the artist: 州边高。- I think
The writhing style is Japanese, I recognized some and guessed some.....
