So I missed out on the plates and such as I just didn't know enough about, but the thing I had targeted in on as soon as I saw it weeks ago was this armorial cup, its age and quality looked good to me and from reading about the ship one posted in the general group last month plus Peter C. talking them up in a video I thought at the right price it would be for sure buy.
Please let me know any and all opinions, I won't have it in hand until saturday but here are the pics I went off of. got it for just under a hundred.
Peter, it's interesting. I don't have a mug/tankard so I can't compare the bottom, but I found the two impressions unusual. It's a nice piece. Looks good to me, but hopefully John will chime in with a comparison, since I know he has an epic CEP tankard.
Depicting the arms of Salt, c. 1765. Discussed in Vol 2 of Chinese Armorial Porcelain by Howard. Service was apparently made for Samuel Salt: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Samuel_Salt
This is part of the first service made for Samuel Salt, as he ordered a second with a bamboo border around 1770.
@bartholin Thanks for much for the info! That was going to be something I was planning on researching now that I own it! 🙂
@petetsai here's the entry for it for your own reference
Here are a couple shots of the bottom of mine for you to compare. I haven't seen a lot of them, so I don't know how much they might have varied. I also notice there is a third mark on yours on the far left edge - it looks like it might be a square with a cross inside of it. Interesting.
@johnshoe Thanks! Very interesting, I really don't know that much about what I got but I'm hoping it was safe buy.
Thanks for sharing that one John!! 😀 I think about your mug very often.
Peter, could you share more photos when it arrives? I didn't notice the third mark, but it also looks like it may be written rather than impressed. If not Chinese export, it might even be a European replacement piece. I think Vic might be able to add more, so I hope he responds.

Will share more pics one I get it this weekend for sure!
Here are the Pictures of the Mug, it seems to be in great shape for its age, and I can now see there are flowers on both sides! Do I have some more to share and stories about my picking this up today!!! Any help with your opinions on this would be greatly Appreciated!!!
Thanks
I think this one might be a later European replacement for the service I mentioned, but it looks very well made. I'd defer to any other thoughts on it though.
@bartholin John, thanks for the information, I'm guessing if it is not Chinese that will greatly effect value? I bought it thinking it might have some good upside if they didn't understand what it was, which was the case I thought.
I thought mine matched the form and style very much to this one...

Chinese mugs where painted in Europe I’m not sure I’ve seen unglazed base on European wares.
@petetsai I might just be being a bit too pessimistic, I have trouble differentiating variations in quality vs. later replacements/copies.
I mostly think it might be a replacement piece because of some sloppiness in enameling and the spearhead border compared to the one in the book, but I've pointed out these spots in this photo. In all likelihood, the spearhead border could've been retouched at some point, which would explain these areas. I've definitely been wrong before with export pieces. Haven't been able to handle many items beyond what I've shared here, so I'm mostly book-learned.
