That sounds like a good deal and I wiish it works out for the both of you!
@shine If you're prepared to pay £200 I'll happily arrange the sale and transport.
🙄 🤔 😏 🤪
I thought they only wanted £120. Also Greeno said it was japanese so not worth £120.
If you give Shine the address, he can negotiate a price with the seller and use Hermes collect and deliver service, seller only needs to wrap and box it which no doubt is something they do everyday in their business.
@short-dong It's not as simple as that- this business is a large antiques warehouse that have dozens of dealers in one building, I'd have to go back and find out who owns this particular piece, get their contact details from the head desk, and then pass this information on to Shine.
No-one works for free, not even Peter Combs.

Hi Tony,
Yes that is much more than I had anticipated. I imagined a small antique briq and braq shop in a quaint little town. Where you could ring the shopkeeper on the landline telephone and he/she would instantly know which item you were talking about. Would wrap it up for you and have it waiting in secured in a cardboard box for collection.
To be honest Tony,if you really wanted to help a fellow collector you could give me the warehouse/centre details and let me sort it out myself but I guess sharing isn't the way.
I offered you £50 and it wasn't enough so seller and prospective buyer both lose out.
Vic
@shine I'm very happy to help a fellow collector, if you're willing to provide a £50 finders fee for my efforts I'll let you know all the information you are after.
@tony-brams If I can do the deal with the dealer that will not be a problem.
It would be daft for me to send £50 and end up with no Vase. Trust is what it is all about.
Send the details to [email protected]
Regards
Vic
@shine Also what you claim about simply being a collector isn't exactly true, you also have an Ebay store where you resell items.
Primarily I’m a collector, mostly English porcelain now, with the occasional Chinese or Japanese purchase.
Most of us buy and sell to improve our collection.
My collection definitely needs re-focusing,here is some of it.
Well, so much for this deal working out for the both of you. Exchange emails...keep your discussion on price private.
Business is business....putting it out there like this looks a bit petty. You're both within your rights to feel the way you do, but don't do it like this.
It's a nice vase, and a drill hole is certainly not the end of the world for these type of Japanese pieces.
Interesting thread - and nice Japanese vase. Usually, huge-jarms has nice items to offer. I think when it comes to any sort of antiques or vintage items, there is no such approach as "just a re-seller". I think no matter what, no matter how - there is always "something" kept on a shelf as to a private personal collection, after all, the question is "for how long item or items kept on a shelve". Personally me, I don't have any issues when selling something to replace less valuable items with something better, or if personal circumstances forcing to sell something. My personal view - there are people which can afford just to buy items which they like without thinking about it at all. And there is another type of buyers which buys, then re-sells,s and buys something better and makes a living at the same time, nothing wrong there. I don't see anything wrong in any type of scenario.
@shine That is a wonderful smaple of your collection shine. I see you opted for modern shelves. I have some edwardian and victorian display cabients and the shelves are so rickety and held up with screws.
One of my cabinets is like this, and there is no way i would put anything of value in there 🙂 the shelves are so weak. There must be so much porcelain lost to breakages this way. I am working on a way to strengthen the shelves to make them stronger.
P.S Hugh-Jarms is well respected seller. One of Peters Combes select few recommended sellers that never sold fakes along with Migularry, Bryne10_2, ceramics & collectables;ratchers;Hugh-Jarms;aurthupotts1;aliatif;skids1 and granpip and many other's. Way way back when Peter has a select list of the best sellers.I am not sure how he compiled them but they he was exactly right. It was that list that allowed me as a beginner to compile a wonderful collection as they all sold authentic items. So I would go out of my way to help a seller like Hugh-Jarms. They are a rarity.
P.P.s If you have any Aynsley 'Cabbage rose' by JA bailey they sell for enormous money sometimes with this tea pot selling on ebay for $14,500 only a few weeks ago. Little craze going for the rose collections. My early noritake rose collection had quadrupled and then something.

Good heavens! Aynsley? I am off to search through my cupboard and boxes!
