This past week as we were heading into February a slew of Chinese porcelains being auctioned appeared for us to include on the Global Auction pages. We also noticed a huge uptick in listings of fakes and reproductions.
If you're using the Global Auction Member pages be sure to check the Auctioneer Report Card before spending any money.
A number of the February auctions run for several days. Of particular interest for us is the sale being run by Rob Michiels Auctions in Belgium in less than two weeks on February 15th and 16th. It's a heck of a nice auction and as always Rob and his staff have done an excellent job with photos and descriptions of all lots. So check it out.

More Chinese Porcelain Auctions To Check Out
Thomaston Place Auction Galleries, Maine, February 29th
If you're not familiar with Thomaston Place Auction Galleries, you should get to know them. The owner and auctioneer Kaja Veilleux has been in the business for decades and has his fingers in half of the estates settled in the region. He runs clean auctions, they answer inquiries and do their homework.
Their February 29th C. sale has only a few Chinese and Asian objects this time around, in some of his auctions he has dozens and dozens of good things. This current sale includes a great 18th C. Armorial mug. It's worth checking out if you're an Export porcelain buyer.
Gallery Zacke, Austria, Feb 28
A good looking sale with modestly estimated items = LOW to no reserves which is always a good sign, so check them out. Zacke is an older (founded in the 1960's) well establish auction house and always seem to do a very nice job.
and Auction houses to Avoid, both get an "F" rating and "AVOID ALWAYS" on the Global Member Pages Report Card data base.
EDEN Auction Galleries
Among the long list of auctioneers we absolutely think you should avoid is Eden Auction Galleries in Georgia. They are in my opinion among the most disreputable auction houses in the United States and on a regular basis flood the market with mis-represented fakes, copies and reproductions.
Below is an example, brand new and clearly not as represented.
Ace Art Auction gallery
Another auction house who also seems to have found an endless supply of incredibly rare Ming examples and are willing to let them go for less than they were worth in the 1940's.
The good news is though, lots of nice things are coming up this month and then in March Sotheby's, Christie's and Bonhams have a series of good things. we'll post the Catalogs and information as soon as it all become available.
