As an EBAY Seller of Asian and Western Antiques are you:
"Hoping" EBAY will fix things with Non-Payers, Troublesome Buyers, Zero Feedback Buyers, Vanishing Bidders and Blocked Bidder Circumvention players? Do you wish eBay would send targeted Emails to buyers with good payment histories? Do you hope one day your listings won't have to compete with the other 950,000 other items listed under "antiques" on the site?
"HOPE is not a Strategy..."..New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani
The problems we've all encountered selling on eBay could fill volumes...check our past blogs here for a few of our, no doubt, shared experiences.
Selling on eBay can be very frustrating. We all work hard at finding things, going to auctions, house calls, estate clean-outs. working connections in the trade and on and on..we all know the drill. Dealing with as few problem buyers as possible is what we all dream of.
So what we've been doing is building a site featuring better quality sellers resulting in buyers having to spend much less time scouring eBay every week and sending out a pro-active weekly NewsLetter-Watchlist to reach out and contact buyers with good payment history's. All with direct links to items listed on eBay.
We welcome you to join us...
NOTE: We also sell on eBay under the user name "plcombs"..we've been through it all also.
About the BidAmount site and weekly NewsLetter-Watchlist
We've been antiques dealers, auctioneers and appraisers for over 35 years and eBay sellers for over 15 years, right here in New England. (Gloucester, Mass. to be specific.) Our specialty has been Chinese and Asian antiques, but we've also sold hundreds of estates and collections including everything from fine American Boston Chippendale tables to Venini glass to fine jewelry along with some very rare European and American paintings.
Seeing as eBay seems unable to reduce the numbers of bad buyers with any effect or real impact, it leaves two options. Quit selling on the site all together, or working as a group to INCREASE the numbers of GOOD buyers who actually see your listings..who might just squeeze out a good number of the trouble makers.
We opted for the latter choice, we hope you do as well.
If nothing else, what we do increases the chances of having a winning bidder who will pay his/her bills and for a better price, with fewer complaints. That alone, we think, is worth working with us.
How BidAmount got started.
"The MOST Successful Antique Dealers are in places with lots of other Antique Dealers"..... Albert Sack, legendary American furniture dealer
A few years ago, we started the BidAmount site by featuring sellers on eBay who we felt were selling authentic antiques and art consistently and by all indication knew what they were doing. From there it grew as we added more and more sellers. We then got the idea of sending direct emails to eBay buyers with good track-records of paying their invoices. So we created the weekly NewsLetter-Watchlist, which goes out via eMail on Saturday nights around 8 PM east coast time.
In the NewsLetter-Watchlist we include active listings found around eBay by searches we've created that filter out the fakes, copies and reproductions as much as possible, we then look at each listing to make sure the item is being accurately described and presented. We also include active listings from the 180 plus sellers featured on our site as well. In essence we send an instant "Watch-list" with links to anywhere from 350 to 700 active eBay listings. 90% are auction items and end within the next 7 days. Additionally we include things which are "mis-described"...and could be a real bargain. Recently we spotted as an example a Ming period Wucai jar 13" tall that was described as "late 19th to 20th C." .
Initially, the site was focused mostly on Asian works of Art and Antiques and is now being expanded into Western art. We're doing this for several reasons, not the least of which is a growing interest in western antiques by folks in China, we also recognize problem buyer's are a global issue.
Do we get paid for doing all of this?
Yes we do, we are an eBay affiliate site. eBay pays us for driving traffic to sellers and we get paid a small commission each time someone buys something and PAYS for it. The money comes from eBay fees paid by sellers and doesn't cost the seller anything in addition. In other words, you're paying already for eBay to promote your items on the mega site. Antiques accounts for only 2% of eBay's traffic. We simply help sellers get their money worth.
