Today there are over 250,00 listings under the EBAY category of "Asian Antiques", as we all know they are for the most part not antiques and in some instances not even Asian. From this 250,000, less than 5% of them are even worth looking at. Which means you have a lot of separating the "wheat from the chaff" before you to find anything you want to buy, or even try to buy. Their are some excellent dealers on Ebay who are honest and DO sell real antiques in the Asian Antiques category. Many are well known in the business and sell under odd ball names to keep their Ebay business separate from their Gallery Business.

They sell real Ming period Bronzes, Kangxi vases, Qianlong bowls, fine China Trade examples, carved antique ivories (despite the ban), good 19th C. and earlier silk robes and textiles and even paintings. Its all there...everyday.

The issue is tracking them down without becoming a solitary monk before a computer screen going without sleep building a "watch list" of things for your inventory or collection. Why would you do that if you don't have to..?

I've been an avid Ebay user since 1998 and have bought a lot of great things on the site, as well as solling a lot as well, most of it Asian material.
Early on I began experimenting with searches, building searches, finding sellers I like, finding sellers who KNOW for the most part what they are doing and some are outstanding dealers with decades of experience.

A while back, I got the idea of building a website site based around the searches and sellers I've been using for years.
This list and the searches themselves have been regularly added to and adjusted as Ebay and its sellers change. We have also removed a few sellers if the quality of their items no longer fit the criteria. If they improve, we have put them back on.
From this I asked my wife (a linguist) to set up a site with a web designer linked to these sellers using the search criteria for weeding out the fakes from China and other places.
The site is in several languages including Chinese, French, Italian and of course English.
The site is simply named BIDAMOUNT.com

I like things kept as simple as possible for visitors to the site.
The search menu is on the left hand side of the home page, if you prefer to search in a different language than English you can change it by picking the language you want in the upper right hand corner. Pretty simple. Once you pick your area of interest a new window will open with a series of Drop Down Menus on the right hand side, click the one you want to try first and start exploring right onto Ebay itself. Have FUN!

BIDAMOUNT works very well for me and saves me time, its gets new items instantly as the become available and does a remarkable job of filtering out all the reproductions flooding the market from mainland China and from sellers around the globe who deal in these things. While its not absolutely perfect, its pretty darn good.
How Long Does it REALLY take to Find Things?
All of the images shown here were pulled off EBAY using the BIDAMOUNT searches in less than 5 minutes while doing this blog. Including uploading to the blog itself.
Once you find what you're looking for, add it to your WATCH LIST or send the Seller a note and inquire about a Buy It Now Price..Very often they will do it, or make an offer as a Buy It Now!
The point is, if you want it let them know!
Many of the seller we like are in the United Kingdom and the European Union as well. We have found the shipping from there reasonable and the dealers reliable and friendly.

NOTE: Slightly out of focus picture. If you come across a listing with limited photos, all slightly out of focus, shot at odd angles but for what you cane see it looks AMAZINGLY good, be VERY VERY careful about bidding on it. Ask for clear images and check his/her other listings. If everything else they sell is marginal and they cannot provide clear sharp images..avoid the item. Its likely a fake.
